Fans On Sean
I made a Sean Slambook and here are the answers. If you would like to answer the questions click here
1. What do you like best/love about Sean
The way he's very quiet and rarely speak... just like me ;) Seb from Belgium
His gorgeous hair! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
He's intelligent and dark, and I've heared he likes Crowley... yee :) and he's beautiful ^-^ very huggable. Drained from Who knows?
He's just soo cuddly and easy going! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
His intelligence. His shiny lovely hair. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
His hair! and his general attitude. Suki-chan from UK
Its just amazing how he can be so quiet and then wallop the drums at a seriously fast and thunderous pace! ManicDrummer from nowhere [surf.to/pistols]
His aura of calm / total disregard for the role of the rockstar / his intelligence. jen from wales
His drumming, his hair.... well i could go on and on. aoibheann from ireland
He's just a cool fucker! Very funny too. Drowner
His desire to be seen as nothing special or important, whilst at the same time being seen as both. Also the way in which he plays not for himself but for the song. Jim from Tunbridge Wells
He's really talented and intelligent and is quiet too bev
Hmmmm theres so many things I like about him, his dry sense of humour, his hatred of the british press, his drums (of course) dress sense, hair, trumpet playing (and guitar too) the way he keeps his private life private, intelligence, I could go on but i wont ;) lyns from manchester [clik.to/seanmooreexperience]
He's so intelligent and pretty. I like the way you never know exactly what he's thinking. His drumming is amazing too!!! Flicker
He's talented and intelligent. Of course the thing I love most is his drumming. m from uk
2. Thoughts on being a Sean fan
SEAN MOORE IS THE CUTEST DRUMMER! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
It's cool, no one really knows anything about anything here, so if I say "I like Sean Moore" it dosn't suprise them that they don't know what I'm on about, as that's what they were expecting, something weird, I am the weirdo arn't I? o_O Drained from Who knows?
Too many to mention! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Sean is so brilliant and cynical that it amazes even me. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
Very nice! but more people should know about him. Suki-chan from UK
I feel proud, cos I'm a drummer and I want to be just like him. ManicDrummer from nowhere
Well it's nice. Coz everyone asks "who is your favourite rock star" and I just say Sean Moore and they give me a strange look. Only Ciara and Amanda know who he is so its ok. aoibheann from ireland
Not enough of them! Drowner
Erm its great (even me mate thinks hes cool) gets on me nerves the way other fans go on bout him tho. bev
Im a Sean fan and proud of it!! I hate it when u say to some one you like Sean the best they give you a sympathetic look and say well someone has to that really does my nut!! So stop it I dont want your sympathy he is the best manic :) and im proud to be part of Seans little group of real fans. lyns from manchester
Well. I love being a Sean fan rather than 'a manics fan'. I suppose sometimes it makes me feel special.... but I love knowing that we support and love Sean altogether. It's a bit strange when you tell people you're a Sean fan. But it feels special when they're all Nicky fans. Flicker
It isn't always the easiest thing in the world, when there's a lot of hatred towards Sean and his fans. I don't know why. If I did, I wouldn't be a fan would I. I'd be like those mindless sheep who can't even see him. They also say he's the quietest manic (when he is infact the loudest, think about it) I'd rather listen to his drumming than he be in the music press every week. Really. m from uk
3. Best drumming/trumpet moment (or which drum track is the best)
PCP... also Everything Must Go and A Design for Life. Seb from Belgium
LIFE BECOMING A LANDSLIDE/PCP-DRUMMING. Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
I dunno, Motown Junk maybe, or PCP, or something else. Drained from Who knows?
Kevin Carter: trumpet. Every song for the drumming! the guy is a genius! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
OCEAN SPRAY how fucking multi-talented is this angel? Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
Drums on faster, and trumpet on kevin carter. Suki-chan from UK
All the songs which they play live are the best and the trumpet well kevin carter! ManicDrummer from nowhere
Kevin Carter, both instruments. jen from wales
Faster, australia definately kevin carter for the trumpet!! aoibheann from ireland
I love the drums on Tolerate. Trumpet on Kevin Carter. Drowner
I love the rhythm on La Tristesse Durera - really original and cool. Also Intravenous, EMG, Australia, Faster, U Love Us... Perhaps Ocean Spray is the best trumpet part as it adds to the mellowness of the song. Jim from Tunbridge Wells
Drumming: theyre all amazing. Trumpet: kevin carter. bev
Drumming: faster, pcp, motown junk, no surface all feeling, nobody loved you, roses. Trumpet: behave yourself baby, kevin carter, raindrops, ocean spray. lyns from manchester
Drumming is probably faster, intravenous, buildings for dead people, prologue to history, australia, dfl, and be natural etc... Love be natural! Trumpet is Kevin Carter. But I do like Behave Yourself Baby. That's so sweet! Incidentally, ocean spray has just come on the radio. So I'll hear some good trumpet soon. Flicker
The ones that I never forget are Roses, Faster, No Surface, Nobody Loved You, Masses, R n R music, and of course lots of KYE cos it's got punky stuff on it. But not just the "loud" stuff, truth I thought was some of the most beautiful drums I'd ever heard. It was more calming. GT is programmed but motorcycle is gorgeous, EMG, the guitars are too loud and drown out most of the drums. Fave albums for the drums are definately GATS, Truth and KYE. I don't know most of HB. I know his fave track for the drums is on there but I don't want to go there. m from uk
4. Fave video for Sean's performance
REVOL0-HEE HEE. Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
You Love Us, that bit at the end... hehehe ^_- But I havn't seen that many, so :,( Drained from Who knows?
hmm; tough one; but I think I'll go for: all of em! Sean does a great performance in each one! esp: YLU (Heavenly version)! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... keep in mind they aren't famous here. You Stole The Sun probably. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
I have not seen many vids, only YLU (heavenly) and a few others, but I can't remember them. Suki-chan from UK
you stole the sun, just to see him wallop hard during the chorus and with him at the end just sitting there looking at the kit! ManicDrummer from nowhere
kevin carter - how to fall off a drumkit with style. jen from wales
you love us the heavenly one. I love it when he smashes up the drums!! aoibheann from ireland
Revol! with his shorts! Drowner
everything must go! Bev
ooh kevin carter! that suit, roses (the way he gives his rose) tolerate all of the vids!! lyns from manchester
Never seen much videos. YLU heavenly where he trashes the kit. DFL cos he looks like paul merton :) I love that vid anyway. flicker
Motorcycle - not that he plays drums in it. Tristesse because I liked that look (I know no-one else does) Roses definately, he had quite a large part in that. I didn't think he looked happy in the EMG video. Tolerate is a classic video, he was very cool in that. More recently I did like SWSS video and he's really hitting the drumkit hard in Ocean Spray (probably cos those people tried to make him wear those nasty shirts?!) I wonder which his favourite videos are. I'd love to know. m from uk
5. Fave Sean moment (i.e. something he did)
"I've had some fun a few days ago. That's my lot for a while." Seb from Belgium
REFUSING TO GLAM IT! I.E. THE MAKE UP, BLOUSES ETC (GOD HE WOULD'VE LOOKED NICE!) Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Um. Him being born. Drained from Who knows?
When he got drunk and smashed his dressing room when the msp's 1st performed on TOTP, 'cos he got a letter from his estranged father. BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
"Richey doesn't go to bed. He goes to the abyss" Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
All the times he refused to wear blouses/make up etc. Suki-chan from UK
Refusing to strip off to the waist and paint himself gold. jen from wales
Well I dont have a very fave moment but dublin was pretty special even though I barely saw him. And I suppose just being him counts (doesnt it??)
aoibheann from ireland
Not being naked in Loves Sweet Exile (I think that's the right song... yeah) Just for being awkward! Drowner
Walking out of the recording studio whilst recording so why so sad. Trashing his drums. lyns from manchester
Being a new fan, I missed all the *really* good stuff! but I've heard the trashing @ titp was good. Flicker
Things like walking out of the gold photo shoot (I read somewhere online that he and James had a fight about that, but I don't know if it's true) Refusing to wear blouses. Trashing the drumkit (on the rare occasions you get to see it anyway) m from uk
6. How does his drumming make you feel...
FILLS ME WITH AN ORGASMIC SENSATION...MMM. Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Hypo ^~^ !!! Drained from Who knows?
Good! this guy can beat out nothing but brilliant tunes! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Like smashing things. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
All tingly (sp?) and happy. Suki-chan from UK
Reminds me that I'm a shit drummer/stick to playing bass girl. jen from wales
It makes me shiver when I hear a new song for the first time. It makes every other thought leave my head. aoibheann from ireland
Ahh it's lovely! I suppose if it was just drumming on it's own it'd get a bit boring after a while... but with the rest of the music it makes me feel great :) Drowner
Like I need to practice some more! Jim from Tunbridge Wells
:) makes me feel happy like Ive no worries in the world when u actually hear the drums live its a mind blowing experience something Ill never forget. lyns from manchester
:) amazing, happy, exilerated (can't spell), happy to be a sean fan. love it when he drums and gets that look on his face like he's not bothered by anything. Flicker
Punky stuff makes me feel better and sometimes when you listen to it, it's more than just drums, maybe because he puts 100% into it. It's more emotions. He said he's obsessed with every beat, you hear some drummers and it's just a noise. Sometimes when he's playing he gets lost in the song, he looks like he's in another place. That's where his drums take me. Go on say it c.o.s. m from uk
7. Greatest live performance
Both nights at the barrowlands earlier this year! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Never seen them live, well, cept in my head, which is nearly real enough, well, no. Do. Not. Know. Drained from Who knows?
Manchester Apollo this year! pure class! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Dunno. American. Fuck all. I want Sean live and I want him now. :p Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
I've only seen em once, and that was this year at manchester, but I saw lots of sean, and cheered very loud 4 him (the people near me were all cheering for nicky/james and thought I was very mad for liking sean) Suki-chan from UK
Glastonbury 94 - my first time. jen from wales
DUBLIN!! most definately. Well its only coz thats the only time Ive ever seen them live but australia blew my mind. aoibheann from ireland
Well I've only seen them once, at Manchester, and I couldn't even see Seany! Didn't see any of them much, actually, nasty tall people in the way. Well it was better than Elbow's drumming, which was just a noise. Drowner
Australia manchester apollo 27th march 2001 the drums were absolutely mind blowing, but so was the rest of the gig :D lyns from manchester
Never seen them *live* live, but I did love the jools australia, jools motown junk, emg era dfl. They'd best do intravenous at leeds. God, they'll have to carry me back on a stretcher, I'd be so happy! Flicker
Rock and Roll music m gig. Another of my fave drummers used to play that (Pete Best, hamburg beatles) there's no way I can ever see him play it (no film exists) but seeing Sean play it made up for that. And he did it in cuba too so now I have 2 performances :) That just reminded me Flicker told me Duran are reforming with Roger...!! (I used to love him in the 80's) m from uk
8. Fave look (or cutest Sean)
TIMTTMY era. Seb from Belgium
Ohh... the joe bloggs era, bless! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Err dunno, it's all good, liked the scary GATS look, but he's nice now, all cute 'n' stuff. ^*^ LOOK I LIKE THE FACES OK??!?!?!?!?!?! Sorry ^_- heh
Drained from Who knows?
With long hair! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Like the hair now actually. And he's got a sweet little chin. :) Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
Pre-GT Suki-chan from UK
GATS jen from wales
Hes cute all the time but his long hair was gorgeous. aoibheann from ireland
Early Manics, they were all cute then! Drowner
Long hair gats era beautiful but hes cute whatever his hairstyle. lyns from manchester
KYE and EMG but mainly KYE! Flicker
Motorcycle video. m from uk
9. Fave Sean quote
"I've had some fun a few days ago. That's my lot for a while." Seb from Belgium
Er... he doesnt speak and when he does... it isnt that important (sorry, sean) Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Editorial note: I do not agree with this opinion, but I have left it in to illustrate the way some people see him. These are attitudes that we have to put up with. If someone disagreed with something Sean said, that would make more sense than making such a sweeping generalisation. Also, people saying Sean doesnt speak - he does.
'We're gonna cut off Richey's head' Drained from Who knows?
"um, maybe on occasion..." (when asked if someone had ever ruffled his hair)
BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
"We're going to cut off Richey's head" Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
"I am just a drummer. Media isn't supposed to pay any attention to drummers. Go bug one of the guitarists or something" Suki-chan from UK
I'm the drummer. jen from wales
The one from the Q interview a while ago. I just cant remember the exact words of it. aoibheann from ireland
When he said they were going to chop Richey's head off. Drowner
On lyric writing: I think its the opposite anyway nicky didnt take on the burden of the lyrics... the lyrics took on the burden of nicky wire. lyns from manchester
Yeah, that p-s me off when people say he doesn't speak. I have said that but I was being sarcastic. I mean, he doesn't shut up!!! Honestly, lately we've not been able to keep up with him. I love that STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF. BE FAIR AND NEVER LOOK BACK. flicker
Most manic fans would answer this question with "he doesn't speak". If I read that one more time... [and look, someone said it up there] From more recent times: "I'm actually a registered user of napster. I'm one of the users Sony blocked!" Nicky's ranting on about how evil it is and Sean's downloading stuff from it... min from uk
10. Fave haircut
The long hair. Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Argh how can I possibly single out one? His long hair was damn sexy, like mine is now ^-^ hehe and his floppy hair was kinda cute, and his hair's really nice now, and all the other hair stylees he's had have all been damn fine. So everything I guess. Heh. Drained from Who knows?
When he had long hair! BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
NOW. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
Lovely and long. Suki-chan from UK
Long/hairy. jen from wales
Long short they all look nice! aoibheann from ireland
Long was cooler. Drowner
Long and floppy his hair is lovely as it is now too. lyns from manchester
All of them. Liked it long, but I liked emg the best. flicker
LONG r.i.p. m from uk
11. Sean fantasies
Well... picture this... Sean and I... only kidding! Im not telling you, it mite offend!! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Perhaps I shoudn't say... My mind is way too corrupt, just the way I like it ^=^ Drained from Who knows?
Being a hero and saving the band... BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
You dirty thing you. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
[me: actually my fantasies are on an entirely different level - see the story in this issue]
Hmm, I don't know... Suki-chan from UK
I had a nice dream after the manics concert that I went back stage and I was talking to him. I dont remember what he said though. aoibheann from ireland
Uh, I don't have any. Drowner
He could bring his kit round to mine and we could just play drums all day and end up with a few beers to round the day off nicely. Jim from Tunbridge Wells
Playing with his drums and maybe seeing him play trumpet hint hint if ur reading this!! lyns from manchester
Dunno. Talking to him?? Flicker
Rescue him from the horrible EMG video, somehow. Arrive on the set and tell everyone to f off and go away. Then I can play on the drums. m from uk
12. Question you'd like to ask Sean
If he would dump Rhian, his wife for me! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
I wouldn't ask him this, but I'd like to know about any same-sex relationships he's had... Ok, I know! but it's just a *thing* I like... ^=^ Drained from Who knows?
Editorial comment: As long as its not James [Flicker would like that though] I think Sean and Nicky would be cute.
"can you explain your liking for Cadbury's Spiras?" (and if you're reading this Sean; YOU DO EAT 'EM!!) BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Fav instrument? Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
I havn't thought about it... Suki-chan from UK
I wouldn't ask him anything, unless it was for a good reason/or he was introduced to me. jen from wales
Do his hands get sore after all the brilliant drumming?? aoibheann from ireland
I wouldn't like to ask him anything because he'd probably look at me like I was stupid and just walk away or something... Drowner
Why do you choose Zildjian cymbals and Sonor drums above Sabian and Pearl?? Is it because you are sponsored by them? Also can I have one of your old drum kits please!! Jim from Tunbridge Wells
I dont really have any questions now maybe what did u think of liverpools peformances recently? I dunno (sorry mind is dead today) lyns from manchester
Don't really know. I think we should set up an exclusive club thing where sean tells us secrets and stuff about the band and we don't tell anyone. hee hee... I think sean and james would have made a nice couple. dammit, why are they cousins? oh, i should have put that under my fantasies. 8-o ;) flicker
Did you and James fight eachother during the holy bible era? (well I read somewhere it was like the Oasis tour of america so I'm guessing) I did want to know why he slagged off his long hair but we know now. There's a lot of things I'd like to know his thoughts on. Things that have happened in the manics career, we only know some people's versions of events. I think Sean's would be the most honest. Instead we get told what people who were round the band think. Or even people who weren't (people take those books seriously?) m from uk
13. What's the worst thing you've ever heard said about Sean
When simply mentioning his name there is always someone whom sniggers and laughs at him. Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Hah comments with reference to "pies" although I'm sure Sean doesn't care, but Gawd help him if he does. He's not even that plump anyways. Drained from Who knows?
"the fat little sausage needs to diet!" (said by a so-called friend of mine) BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
[me: only in their sad opinion]
"Sean Who?" Fucking twats. Grrrrrrrr. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
Just stuff about his height. He's not that short people! He's taller than me! Why do people always call him the 'little fat one'? Its so unfair! Suki-chan from UK
Editorial comment: manics fans do because they are prejudiced little f-ers who arent tolerant of anyone, its a myth that they are. Its very strange/stupid that amongst the manics fan scene anorexia is understood and tolerated yet if you are anything other than that you are ridiculed. What a load of rubbish. I never liked the fan scene, I never will. It doesnt say anything different, it just breeds prejudice. Sean is ok as he is. People who spread prejudice are not. But this country - and the world - is full of it. I could never be like the majority and condemn someone for the reasons other people do. Its shit.
fat = stupid. jen from wales
This is the worst thing. Fiona called him fat and ugly. I still havent forgiven her for that. aoibheann from ireland
People are always saying too many nasty things about him! Drowner
Not heard but read. In Rhythm magazine issue Jan 2001, Sean was voted 6 worst drummer in the readers poll!! Jim from Tunbridge Wells
The fecking f word and the m word (mute) If u actually searched properly you would find sean stuff even tho most sites tend to forget him just think what manic's music would be like with no drums! lyns from manchester
People calling him the 3-letter f word. I cannot tolerate people being nasty about sean and james' weight. People say theyre fat, but my god, they're not! Not by any standards they're not. Though being short doesn't help peoples perceptions. People are horrible about their height too. Flicker
I wouldn't know where to start. But more recently some people were talking about the fanzine I do making out it's not normal to like Sean (and were overheard by someone who contributed to it) So in the manics who is it "normal" to like then? Load of s***. I don't want to be "normal" anyway. People who go round thinking they're better than other people, that's what the nazi's did. There's a lot of people like that though isn't there (in the manics fan scene anyway) I've seen a lot of s*** I couldn't be bothered to repeat but that's the latest thing. THEY'RE the ones with a problem. Hate it when you go to a website and click on the Sean section, and more often than not "page cannot be found". Click on another manic and... you know what I mean. Or go to a website and no mention of Sean at all. You get used to it after a while but you never stop being p-d off by it. Like the official site, when the manics had just played cuba, they put up a pic of the other 2. And when they put the first fansite links on, there was a nicky site and a james site but no sean site. Sean said recently that they don't bother with the website but by default he is ignored. And when you go to a site and their Sean section contains words like "Sean doesn't speak", some kind of variation on that, excuse me... zzzzzzzzz. m from uk
Being a Sean fan has always involved being laughed at for who you like, or having to listen to negative comments about Sean. Its nothing to do with us/him. Its their problem. I dont think much of them either.
14. Post a message for Sean
Hi sean, just want to say thanx for posing with pictures and being so so nice when I met ya, the barrowlands and hmv, glasgow!! Never really wanted to meet you guys for fear that youd let me down and be complete arses, but you weren't, you were all lovely!! thank you! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
You rock, maaaan. Drained from Who knows?
"Lay off the Spiras! We know you eat em!" BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Thanks for the music. You astound me. I wish there were more people like you. Bless. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
You are one of the greatest drummers I have ever heard, and remember that we love you. Suki-chan from UK
Do as you want and be happy. jen from wales
Come back to dublin pleaseeeeeee! I hope my flag didnt offend yas :-) aoibheann from ireland
You cool cool man! Drowner
Keep up the good drumming and aattitude - I really admire your attitudes of playing for the song and also of not being an in-ur-face musician. Also, can I have one of your old drum kits for my collection!! Jim from Tunbridge Wells
Ta v muchly for doing the questionnaire for us and answering our questions, hope ocean spray gets to number 1 and oh yeah we do love u even if most fans don't take care love and stuff hope to see you in a venue near me soon lyns x lyns from manchester
Thanks for the q/aire, you're the greatest and we love you! Flicker
I hope you're ok. I can't think of anything else. I think I already said everything I wanted to. Hope Ocean Spray does well and thanks for doing the q'naire for us. m from uk
[the questionnaire is on this website - see Seanzine 2]
Other gr8 drummers (or name of their band)
None there's only one great drummer! Glitterstarlover from Glasgow
Hmm dunno really, the whole thing matters more to me, I look for the whole sound rather than the individual instruments ^_^ Drained from Who knows?
John Bonham; Dave Grohl; Simon Gilbert... BanglePrincess from Manchester UK
Um. Evie from (america--yeah, that's right, so fuck off)
Ginger Fish (marilyn manson), Dave Grohl (nirvana), Toshi Nagai (from Japanese band Glay. They're kinda like manics, and the guitarist Hisashi looks like Brian Molko ;) ) Suki-chan from UK
Neil Peart - rush Brian Downey - thin lizzy RATM. jen from wales
jimmy from smashing pumpkins rick from ash steve from placebo. aoibheann from ireland
I have to say Simon Gilbert (Suede) just because his hair's a great colour... or at least it was. Drowner
Roger Taylor (Queen), John Bonham (Led Zep), Ringo Starr (Beatles), Gilson Lavis (Jools Holland), Chad Smith (RHCP's), Steve White (Paul Weller), the guy from Feeder (sorry can't remember the name), Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones) the list goes on and would be too long to put them all down here, but theyre all great. (I'm a drummer if you hadn't already guessed) Jim from Tunbridge Wells
clem, topper, roger taylor, dom howard. lyns from manchester
Ginger (marilyn manson), Jimmy Chamberlain (smashing pumpkins, amazing live), Steve Hewett (placebo), Roger Taylor (duran), Colin Newton (idlewild), Topper Headon (clash), Phil Selway (radiohead), Dom Howard (muse), the girl from Twist, Mercedes Lander (Kittie) etc etc... Flicker
Paul Cook (Pistols) Topper Headon (Clash) Roger Taylor (Duran's original drummer) Clem Burke (Blondie) Sean slagged him off on teletext for plugging his new album at the Q awards. Also at one of the Q awards Clem namechecked the Beatles AND Pete Best (their 1st drummer) anyone who remembers Pete is ok by me.
