| Blacksox Win East Division The Paddy's Place Blacksox brought home the regular season title with winning both games of a double header on Wednesday July 21. The Sox beat up on both Larchmont Pizza and Coors Light to take the flag in their inaugral season. But the Sox have their sights set on the crown. The playoffs are set to begin this Tuesday August 3. The Sox will meet the # 8 seed in Westwood Computer. The Computer Geeks struggled all year, but won their last game of the season against Regional Bar, the team that handed the Sox their first loss. So Westwood Computer could be a different team than the one the Sox rolled over twice in the regular season. If the Sox get by Westwood, they'll face the winner of the # 4/# 5 game between Joe's Place and Larchmont Pizza. That second round game will be played on Wednesday August 4 at 8 PM on Field #4. The Championship Round will then be best two of three and will start August 9th. Blacksox Win by Forfeit June 29, 2004 Wwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Westwood Computer only managed to get seven guys to come to the game. The Sox got their twelth win of the year, but were not happy with their no-show opponent. Although the Computer guys did get spanked 24-3 at the last meeting, can you blame them for not showing? Sox Beat TD Waterhouse 15 - 3 June 23, 2004 Jason Parenti hit a walk-off single to end the game by the 12-run rule on his 26th birthday. Mike Bobal homered twice and got his 7th win of the year on the mound. A solid win for the Sox. The only disappointmert on the night was that the birthday boys, Shaef and Parenti, did not drink as much Yager as expected. Computer Guys No Match for Paddy and Company June 17, 2004 The Blacksox moved their record to 10-1 on the year against a hapless Westwood Computer team. The Sox opened up a can of whoop-ass on the Computer Geeks to the tune of 24 to 3 in a rain-threatened 4-inning mopping. The offense put up some big numbers. Fisher went 4-4 with two bombs, including a grand slam, and 6 RBI. Diemer went 3-3 with 2 RBI and hit a ball to the bleachers on the other field. Angry was 2-3 with 5 RBI and a three-run jack. Skillo went 3-3 with 3 RBI. Reitmann was 2-2 including a two-run triple over the left fielders head. Darcy and Schaefer both doubled in a run. Zarwi singled twice and walked. And Thompson, who made two outs in the Sox 11-run second inning, was a seeing-eye double away from an 0-for. The Sox got a rare treat as Paddy himself attended the game along with Sue and the V-man. Sox Revenge Only Loss June 16, 2004 Regional Bar took the Blacksox out of their undefeated season in the first meeting of the two East Division powerhouses. The Paddys Place Blacksox got them right back the following week sending Regional Bar away with a 17-10 loss. The Sox were quick out of the box, staking a six run lead capped off by a Rossetti 2-run bomb. The Sox let second place, Regional Bar, right back in the game handing them six runs on two errors. The Sox then only managed one hit in the next three innings of play while the Regionals scrapped away two runs in both the third and forth innings for a four run lead going into the fifth. The Sox got one run back on an RBI double by Schaef-Dawg in the top of the fifth. Then took the lead back for good in the sixth with extra base hits by Darcy, Parenti, Rossetti, and Skillo. Then, for good measure, the Sox tacked on six more runs in the seventh highlighted by a Kandell 3-run jack. The defense held strong for Bobal who earned his sixth win of the year. It was a tense battle and the Sox got a well deserved celebration at Paddy;s Place after the game. Reitmann got a pint of Yager for his Bday and Angry got taunted by Paddy himself for playing a hold-me song on the jukebox. to you, Paddy Paddy's Drops One to Regional Bar June 10, 2004 The Blacksox took their first "L" in a tight game with Regional Bar, 14 - 11. The Sox didn't hit very well and didn't field very well against the second place Regionals. The Sox tied the game in the third, but never held the lead in the game. The Blacksox get another shot at Regional this Wednesday night. Silent Sox Bats Enough to Beat Coors Light, 5 2. June 7, 2004 The Blacksox showed up, but they forgot the sticks. The Blacksox scored a season low 5 runs on only 12 hits. The offensive highlights were few and far between. Diemer doubled in a run in the first. Parenti laced a triple over the left-fielders head and Rossetti knocked him home with a sac fly. Then Zarwi tripled and Reitmann knocked an RBI single, all in the top of the fourth. Coors Light brought the score to 3 2 in the bottom of the fifth. The Sox waited until the top of the seventh to respond with two runs of their own. Schaefer singled in Bobal and Darcy knocked in a run to close out the scoring for the Sox. The Sox defense held their ground with Bobal scattering ten hits over seven innings to earn his fifth victory. The Sox will see another challenge from Regional Bar Thursday of this week. SOX Take Down TD Waterhouse 10-2 June 3, 2004 The Paddy's Place Blacksox won their seventh straight game with a 10 - 2 victory over TD Waterhouse. The game lasted a brief forty minutes as the Sox defense was superb in holding their opponents to only 2 unearned runs and only 6 hits. It was another solid performance for the Sox offense. Diemer went 3 for 4 with a triple and 4 RBI's. Parenti knocked in two runs. And Darcy, Skillo, Reitmann, and Schaefer all had an RBI a piece. Big thanks to Joe G for giving the Sox a full squad for the game. The Blacksox have two games this week, the first against a good Coors Light team. The Sox were too much for the Twisted Tea heads last time out, but with a depleted Sox squad and an angry Coors Light, this one could be interesting. Sox Sweep Series with YUD in a Laugher May 26, 2004 The Young Union Dems were no match for the Blacksox Wednesday night at Biertuempfel Park Field #4. The game was less than an hour old when Mike Bobal completed his four-inning, 3-hit gem earning his forth win of the season. The defense for Sox was real solid, highlighted by another sliding grab by Mark Darcy. League officials are still trying to measure the ditch he left behind in left-center. The sticks were working for the Blacksox as the offense put up some big numbers all around. Zarwi was 2-2 with a RBI. Reitmann went 3-3 with 3 RBI. Deimer mashed his second bomb of the season. Kandell went 3-3, HR, 3 RBI, and 3 runs. Fisher went 3-3, HR, 3 RBI, 3 runs, and tried to top Bobals barrel-roll slide from a few games back with a sweet drop and crawl slide into home in the first inning. But laughs did not end there. Rossetti made a nice hustle play taking second on a pop-up, however he failed to see his jacked up team mate already standing on the bag. Parenti graciously let Carm have base and allowed himself to be tagged out. C Light still doesnt know Parenti was there. Anyway, when it was said and done, the Sox totaled 18 runs and 22 hits to bring their record to 6 0. The Blacksox get a week off before they face TD Waterhouse. Hopefully the Sox will have recovered from the Beer Pong Tourney on Sunday by then. Blacksox Homer Six Times in 5th Win May 24, 2004 The Sox brought the big sticks Monday night against the Young Union Dems at Biertuempfel Park Field # 4, knocking six round trippers in route to their fifth consecutive win. Rossetti hit a 2 run blast in the first and followed that with a 2-run triple in the second. The Big Fish crushed two tape-measure bombs onto Field #5. Darcy hit two solo dongs and completed a 4-4 night with a walk-off RBI single. The D was there behind Bobals third win of the year with Skillo turning two double plays. Sox look to sweep the home-away series with the Dems Wed night. Paddy Takes Round Two in a Romp May 21, 2004 The Blacksox won the second game of the home-and-home series against Joes Place at Biertuempfel Park Field #1. Game one was a three-run battle, but game two turned into a ten-run milking as the Sox put up six runs in the forth on their way to a 13-3 victory. The Sox out hit Joes 17 to 7. Diemer went 2-4 with 2RBIs and a triple. Rossetti busted out with two hits and two runs scored. Angry went 3-3 with 2 RBIs. And Fish doubled twice, had two RBIs, and got the relatively large Blacksox crowd to its feet with two head first slides. The defense was solid highlighted by a frozen rope from Darcy gunning down a potential run at the plate in the sixth. The undefeated Sox have a home/away series with the Young Union Dems next week. Battle of the Places: Paddy Beats Out Joe in Round One May 20, 2004 The Blacksox took the first game of a home/away series against Joes Place, a Paddys rival, 7-4 at Biereumpfel park Field # 5. It was a battle, but an offensive struggle as both teams were hurting for runs. Jon Fisher snapped a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run bomb that may have reached parking lot. The Sox D was porous, but managed to hold Joes offense scoreless through the last four innings. The defensive gem of the game was an exciting running catch by Sox right fielder, Schaef-Dog. Zarwi brought a whiffle ball bat, but somehow managed to single and score a run for the Sox. Diemer brought a real stick going 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Mike Bobal recorded his second win of the year, setting the Sox up for the series sweep. Blacksox Take Out Larchmont Pizza May 17, 2004 The Blacksox earned their second victory of the season taking out Larchmont Pizza 13-9 at Biertumpfel Park Field # 4. The Sox made this one a little more interesting than their opener. We had a few people playing out of position and the bats just werent totally into the game, a Blacksox representative commented. Chris Parenti was angry at the comment as his 3-4, 3R, 5 RBI performance led the offense for the Sox. Parenti hit a three-run bomb in the first to cap off a four-run inning for the Blacksox. Larchmont tied the score in the third with a six-run barrage that had the Sox D on their heels. Bobal homered in the sixth to score two runs. And Darcy doubled in the eventual winning in the top of the seventh to start a four-run inning that put away the pizza-heads. It was a good start to the week for the Blacksox who play a home/away series with Joes Place later this week. Blacksox Rip Open Coors Light in Opener May 14, 2004 The Paddys Place Blacksox made a statement in their Union League debut Friday night at Bierteumpfel Park. The Sox cracked open Coors Light, 16 2. The shirts said Twisted Tea, but whatever they were drinking it wasnt enough against the Sox. Coors Light is rumored to be the defending B-League Champs, but the college kids didnt put up much of a fight against the Sox, who hit four bombs in their opener. And if fences existed on Biertuempfel Park Field #4, the bomb total would been doubled. I think Angry hit one to the second baseman on field #5, oh wait thats the left-center fielder, said a Blacksox representative. The Sox out-hit Coors Light 21 to 5. And the Sox could do no wrong in the field either, as they played error-less ball. The real victory went to Paddys Place after the game, where the karaoke was jammin and the Nets were taking game 5 from the Pistons in triple OT. The Sox have a busy week ahead with three games on the schedule, two of them against Joes Place, a Paddys Place rival. RAINED OUT, Again... May 13, 2004 Another wash out for the Blacksox. Blacksox Go 6-12 in Union League April 13, 2003 The Blacksox have made the move. Leaving Woodbridge Township Men's Softball League after one mildly unsuccessful season, the Sox will are moving to the Union Township 6-12 Men's Softball League. In doing so the Sox took care of their #1 off season goal, getting away from the unlimmited arch Woodbridge League. Hopefully the BlackSox sluggers will fare a little better in the 6-12 foot arch league in Union. The games will be played at Bier Temple Park off Vuaxhal Road in Union, NJ. The managers meeting will be held Wed April 14, at which time further information will be disclosed. The Sox are in search of a sponsor for the 2004 season, any help with this matter is apreciated. Practice will be held this Sunday, time and location to be announced. |
