Sean Dudley is an artist who was formally trained at Paier College of Art in Hamden, CT in the areas of graphic design and illustration. His graphic design experience has led him to various assignments with publishing and advertising firms such as Milton Bradlee-Hasbro and Black & Decker as well as illustrating for newspaper publications. He presently works as a freelance graphic designer and a substitute art/history teacher for a public school system while continuing to work on his own painting. In addition to this he is a certified snowboard instructor where he teaches to groups of students ranging from eight to sixty years of age. At the present time he is continuing his studies in Art Education at the graduate level where he feels that the nurturing of younger talents and minds has greater personal rewards. He hopes to teach on a full time basis while he continues to practice his own artistic endeavors hoping to insight inspiration and positive direction for future students.
He was born in Washington, D.C. while his father was still in the U.S. Airforce and later migrated with his parents to Southbury, CT. He spent most of his life surrounded by woods, cornfields and rivers where his love for nature was first developed. While growing up hiking and climbing around these natural elements has created a source of inspiration for him throughout his life. He has always felt that there was something spiritual and inspirational about nature. In addition to the interest of flaura and fuana of around him he was also infatuated with the stories shared by his parents and grandparents about the way life used to be and what it was like to imagine how people survived amidst various adversities in times gone by has created an inquisitive historical spirit within him. He seeks adventuresome activities whenever possible and he is often conflicted in a good way by all of varied interests that he holds dear. But, for the most part, creative expression is the most rewarding and being helpful to others are added priorities that he seeks out in order to create a more perfect personal world. In fact, his other interests often serve as a vehicle for inspiration when he needs to get out and find new ideas for his creative work and relying on the combination of past memories and personal interests help him to arrive at vaious visual resolve. He often uses art to describe a variety of moments in time. Although the images in this portfolio are a small sampling of his work it is his hope that you will visit this site again for further updates. At the present time, he is working on a series that reflects an industrial past gone by that conveys the reflection of a modern time that once was considered to be a contribution of community prosperity and growth.
