Since starting my Gurps-Traveller campaign, I have quickly learned that there are some real problems with the Traveller/Gurps Tech Level conversions. At least for some items. For example, though the Imperium supposedly goes up to Gurps TL 12, none of the Gurps weapons above TL 10 exist in Traveller. Now I am a little less cannon than most Traveller referees, but blasters and force swords really don't have any place in Traveller. This is what I do in my campaign. For Medicine and Vehicles (with the special exceptions for gravitics and contragravity noted in GT) I use the Tech level conversion listed in the Gurps-Traveller book. For Armor, Electronics, Power Sources, and Weapons I use the table below. I got the idea for this TL conversion table from Anthony Jackson. Although after extensive comparision, I have made one or two changes, and this is the conversion that I am using in my campaign.
-6-
Comparing the historical years from the TL chart in Book 6 Scouts to the TL chart in Gurps basic book 3rd edition you'll note that this is ALMOST an exact match. Even with this modification there are some problems. Like gauss weapons are GTL 8, but TTL 11. Half of the GTL 10 stuff doesn't exist in Traveller, and none of the weapons GTL 11 and above. Still, we do what we can.

GURPS 4th Edition I have recently created a chart that compares Traveller Tech Levels to Gurps 3E Tech Levels AND Gurps 4E Tech Levels. In .doc format.
