| Okay, what do I know about Sean? I know plenty...I've had a crush on the guy since I was 11, and I saw him in Toy Soldiers. Sean Patrick Astin was born February 25, 1971 in Santa Monica to Patty Duke and John Astin (2 great actors in their own right) His younger brother MacKenzie was born roughly 2 years later (I'm not exactly sure of his birthdate). His first movie was 'Please Don't Hit Me Mom' (1981) in which he acted alongside his mother. He didn't become recognized until 1985, when he portrayed Mikey, the ailing star of 'The Goonies'. A steady stream of acting jobs followed, and soon the child actor became a teen heartthrob. His characters in 'Like Father, Like Son' (1987), 'Staying Together' (1989), 'Memphis Belle' (1990), and 'Toy Soldiers' (1991) would be classified as typical guys with attitude problems, but for some reason, these characters are what many believe made this guy seem likeable. And of course, with the success of 'Rudy' (1993), it seemed inevitable that Sean Astin would be a household name. So what happened? Why do only little more than a handful of people know who he is now? I don't know for sure. Maybe it's because he isn't a typical celebrity. Sources say that he is a really nice guy, who would do anything for his family, which includes his wife Christine (the 2 were married in 1992), their eldest daughter, Alexandra Louise (born in November 1996) and youngest daughter, Elizabeth Louise (born in August 2002). He's made several movies since 'Rudy', some very good, some, well...we all make mistakes. Perhaps his most promising role yet, is that of Samwise Gamgee, who he has portrayed in the highly anticipated 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy.. |
