The first event was a Precision Duration (Predicted) flight. With everything from an Estes Alpha, Big Bertha, Big Dawg to an Omloid (yes, the same rocket was used for the second event, and got a better time!), the winners were Michael Park, Tim Larson and Mike Pearson.
In the D-Egg Loft duration event, we had only one casualty: a certain contestant thought he'd have some fun and started juggling the eggstronauts. All went well until a member of the Contest Staff told him to cut it out, and he promptly dropped one! Yes there was even one failed recovery deployment, the capsule opened on impact, but the egg was unbroken. Talk about tough eggs! Of the 9 entries, seven were modifications of the basic Estes Omloid. Fin cans were replaced or reamed out to hold the 24mm engine, and some new fin configurations appeared. One was about 6 inches shortened, one had a transition from the stock BT-60 to BT-50 (minimum diameter). With names like "O-Midol" (pink egg-carrier) to "Oeuf-Da" we had one dozen great flights, and two new NAR Records! Congrats to Amanda Larson (Division B) and Traci Scott (Division C). Third place went to Michael Park.
Everybody had a great time, and we can't wait to do it again.
