Small-time con artist Louis and his inseparable sidekick Dody long to leave their ordinary world behind and start a new life. Convinced that destiny has him by the hand, Louis comes up with a plan: he and Dody will commit one last heist for crime broker Quick Vic and use the money to head down to California, where Dody can apply his considerable brilliance as an auto detailer. But when the boys arrive for the job, Quick Vic tells them he's already given the job to his cousin Plattsburgh Pete. What Vic doesn't know is that Pete is dead and in the trunk of Louis' car.
What follows is a bizarre and thrilling odyssey of double deals, mistaken identities, loan sharks, one-armed crime lords andinevitablymurder. Throughout this perilous journey, Louis holds tightly to the belief that destiny will lead him to California after all.
