Sean Fan Of The Month
February -- Melissa
by Amy
Name: Melissa Munn (Missy)
Age: 24 (I'll turn 25 on March 20)
Sex: Female
Job: I work for The State Newspaper in Columbia, SC.
I'm a newsroom researcher/database enhancer/archivist.
What in the world is that, you ask! (Goooooood
question! LOL!!!) In other words, I do research for
our reporters in addition to updating our database. I
also edit and enhance news articles and photos so that
they are available to the public from our website.
Believe me, it's much more fun than it sounds! Working
around news as it happens is exciting!
Where do you live? South Carolina. If you need the
city, it's West Columbia.
Where did you first see Sean? Lets see... I'm
guessing the first time I actually saw Sean was in the
movie Powder- many moons ago when it was first
released. I even have it on tape somewere. And I
believe I saw some episodes of The Yong Indiana Jones
Chronicles, but I was blind (or perhaps just
incredibly stupid) and failed to succumb to the
Flanery charm at the time. (I know! I should be shot!)
It was not until recently, when I rented the movie
'Simply Irresistible' that I fell head over heels into
Sean-dom. Ladies, 'irresistible' is definitely the
word I would use to describe him!
What was it about him that drew you in? The smile.
Definitely the smile. I noticed it immediately in
'Simply Irresistible'! There's something so charming
about it. It's one of those adorably boyish, slightly
crooked grins and yet it also has that air of
self-confidence.
What your fave Sean role? Because I'm relatively
new to the Sean Scene, I haven't been able to see as
many of his movies as I'd like to (But I'm working on
that!!!). Tom Bartlett from 'SI' will probably always
be one of my very favorites simply because that was
the role that first took my breath away. It's probably
not the role that shows the depth of his acting
ability, but it's a very sweet, endearing role
nevertheless. That's not to say I don't enjoy his
weightier roles- I thought he was fabulous in 'Suicide
Kings' and 'Boondock Saints'. Wow. What an incredible
acting range!
If you could ask Sean only 2 questions what would they be? Wow. You mean besides 'Will you marry me?'
That's a tough one. I know we've all heard about how
he stumbled into acting b/c of his fascination with a
girl, but I think I would like to know what it was
about the art of acting that made him want to continue
to pursue it once he was able to move past this woman.
Also, because he spouted Shakespeare so well in 'Best
Men', I'd like to know if he'd ever consider a role
like 'Hamlet.' There are SO many more intelligent,
thought-provoking things I could ask, but just the
thought of Sean messes up my train of thought! I'm
going to look back over my answers to these questions
later and gasp, 'What were you thinking?!'
Your Hobbies? Writing (I'd love to write a movie
script, but don't have a clue how to get started in
such a competitve business! I have so many ideas, but
lack the knowledge to do anything with them! How sad
is that?!), reading, watching movies, meeting new
people.
And anything else you want us to know? When I first
became enamoured with Sean, I started thinking how
awesome it would be if I could talk my editors into
letting me get in touch with him for a phone
interview. We run a small piece each week in the
weekend section of our paper on movie rentals, and I
knew we'd be running one around Valentine's Day on the
most romantic movies to rent. I thought it would be
perfect to run an interview with him and recommend
'Simply Irresistible' as a video rental. I did all of
this leg work and was told how to track down Sean's
agent, etc., but... sadly, it was a no go as far as my
editors were concerned. No Sean story. Not even up for
consideration. BUT, just the little bit I found out
about him through fan sites and articles while
preparing for this interview- that didn't happen- left
me intrigued. I want to know what makes this guy tick!
And, as far as my own feelings go, I want to know why
I turn to jelly at the mention of his name?!
