Beat the Champ Voting Ballot

1.   Get rid of IPS   [ Yes | No ]

This year we have learned a lot about the Inactive Player Syndrome.  Many of the coaches felt that this amendment was more of a pain than good.  There was more controversy with this new rule than any other.

The Problems:

bulletTrying to find evidence that a player did in fact play.
bulletThe vagueness and interpretation of coach’s weekly IPS postings
bulletProblem with when the IPS needed to be submitted

Overall the IPS ended up +-20 point difference for the year.  I ask you, is it worth all this work for just 20 points?  If you think that it is, would you like to make the call at the end of the year on a controversial IPS for the championship?

The original concept of IPS is great idea and there are some versions of the IPS that might be better.  However, instead of voting on all of these different versions of IPS we should make a new amendment and vote on it.

Part of the goal for this league is to keep things as simple as possible.  Keeping things simple makes it easier for everyone to interpret the rules.  That way any coach can run the league as commissioner.

2.   Last Week Winner  [ Yes | No ]

To try and keep the league competitive and give those poor coaches that are at the bottom of the rankings a chance at some money we have the amendment “Last Week Winner”.

If you get 1st place in the last week of the season you win.

The winning coach gets all his/her transactions back.  This achieves two things:

bulletCoaches will be more inclined to make more transactions during the year in hopes to win the last week.  Which means more money for awards at the end of the year.
bullet

This keeps coaches from trying to get a better draft pick or just giving up.

3.   Champ becomes next years Commissioner  [ Yes | No ]

I know this one is probably not a fan favorite.  However, in order to make this league everyone’s league we need to share in the fun.  What better way to do this than to automatically make the Champ next years Commissioner.

Being Commissioner is easier than it ever. The internet and the committee makes being Commissioner easy.  At least compared to how it used to be when all stats were taken out of the newspapers (Before I joined the league that’s how this league was run.  And I thought I was obsessed).  Plus, we have gone out of our way to make being commissioner as simple as possible.

We need people to step it up because we need fresh new ideas.  We figure that if someone wins the league they are probably Fantasy Football savvy and would make a great commissioner.  In fact the last two Champs have already been commissioner.

We don’t want this league to become a Dictatorship.  With the same old people as Commissioner every year.

With all the awards and money you receive as Champ it’s the least you can do.

4.   World Record Payouts  [ Yes | No ]

We are handing out awards this year.  However, to make it even more exciting we would like to attach some monetary value to it.

We would like to take 5% of the pot every year and apply to the world records for the year.  For example, let’s say the total pot is $800 then $40 would apply to world record pool.  If we had 4 world records, that year each world record would get $10.  If no world records were broken that year then the $40 would go into next year’s world record pool.  This would go on until a World Record was broken.

2003: 20 world record *Total number of World Records.  First year to keep track

2004: 14 world records broken (that includes a tie for DEF)

2005: ?

As the years pass by it will be harder to break a World Record.

5.   Up the player keepers to 3 players  [ Yes | No ]

Title says it all.  We would like to increase the number of keepers from 2 to 3.  Some people have suggested we wait another year before we do this to see how the 2 players Keepers workout.
