'Mandolin' is a song inspired by a) my feelings, of course, and b) the fact that I spent today in a forest. It's a contrasting track with some sections just involving a mandolin, whereas in some sections the rest of the band kicks in. I really like it, I hope you do too...
'Mandolin'
(mandolin, quiet)
He strolls through the woods
Branches crunch
Under his boots
He looks up high
Sees the sky
Speckled through leaves
Way up high
He can't see the wood
For the trees anymore
He just plays on his mandolin...
(drums kick in)
He is living in the past
He tries to use his music
To make time move forward
Not as fast as it has been
People say he has no life
Critiscism all the time
Did they stop to think
Did they take a look for any signs
That he is happy
Happy with the life he leads
I bet they didn't...
He can't see the wood
For the trees anymore
He just plays on his mandolin...
(kick)
He walks through the fields
A mandolin is what he wields
Birds chirp up in the trees
He looks ahead
Guess what he sees
More forest
He should've guessed
He has to fight his way through
Just so he can be with you
He'll try and do it
With music
(guitar kick in)
He can't see the wood
For the trees anymore
He just plays on his mandolin...
Oooh yeah
Strums on his mandolin
Whoa, yeah, yeah...
Plays the notes
he knows will win
He heart
Real fast
He plays them on his mandolin...
(plays them on his mandolin)
Oooh, he plays them on his mandolin
(plays them on his mandolin)...
(solo)
(kick)
He really wants to win her
heart
He doesn't want to be apart any more
The trees begin to part
The trees infront of him
Begin to thin
There's a light at the end of the tunnel
(the end of the tunnel)
It's hear golden face
He's won the race
because he was playing on his mandolin
Oooh yeah, he was playing on his mandolin...
Playing on his mandolin
(lyrics fade out to just mandolin)
(mandolin plays)
(ends)
