I have owned VW campers for over twenty years. My current VW is a 1971 Westfalia, white, with no poptop. Hopefully, this will be the last one that I buy. Owning and driving old VW busses is a 'love/hate' relationship. These busses are now around 30 years old, and it shows. Because of that, those that boast of "daily drivers" also pull their engines a lot. My car is driven only on special occasions, and never driven during the summer months. It never goes over 62 mph. I am proud to say that I haven't pulled my engine in years! Should one need parts, I recommend Bus Depot, Wolfsburg West or Old Volks (Ronnie). Of course, if you want to spend more, you can patronize Bus Boys or Rocky Mountain. I have little patience for magazines such as Hot VW's, although I do subscribe. The folks in the UK seem to understand aircooled a little better, I love to read Volks World.
Ideally, one should not be working on or reading about VW Campers, one should be camping. Let me know if you or your club has a campout. Assuming that it is not too far from the San Francisco Bay Area, I might attend. (Don't worry, I will bring my own stash)
