In a SEAL platoon the weapon choice is based on the individuals preference. Some guys are much better suited to carry an M60 light machine gun. Other guys would rather carry a .727 Carbine with a .203 on it. Some are really good long-range shot, and they are best employed carrying an M14 rifle. One of the things that make SEAL platoons so effective is that they have such a wide variety of weapons to choose from for the missions that they have to accomplish.
