First Line Gear includes what is worn on the body alone. The secondary weapon and ammo, K-bar or other combat knife, compass, flashlight, Camelback Hydration System, Escape and Evasion kit (survival pouch, signal mirror, water purification tablets, fishing line, indigenous money, etc.). Second line Gear includes the customized Web Gear and all attachments. Attachments include ammo pouches, grenade pouches, canteens (2QT), first aid kit, MX-300 pouch, caribiner, and Gas Mask. Third Line Gear includes all other gear stored in the rucksack. The third line gear is operationally essential, but in the event of compromise, can be ditched, allowing the SEAL operator to travel lighter, faster and fight with first and second line gear. If the operator gets separated from his platoon and weapon, his first line will allow him to Escape and Evade to the nearest SAFE area or the comfort of the water. - - The information on this page is from NavySeals.com. |
