Notes:
Body of fish very deep and strongly compressed with a short head and long sickle-sharped pectoral fins. Adults have a protuberance between the eyes. Colour of fish silvery with a tinge of green on the upper half of body. Has an orange spot above the base of the pectoral fins and 4-11 vertical bands of small black spots on upper half of body.
