| Family: Nemipteridae Scientific name: Nemipterus peronii (Valencienes) Local name: Kerisi Distribution: Coastal waters up to more than 100m depth Size commonly caught: 15-25cm total length Notes: Has a robust oblong body with 9 saddle-like brown blotches on its back. Rosy in ground colour with a reddish spot just behind origin of lateral line above its pectoral fin base. Abundant in trawl catches. Sold fresh and also processed into fish balls. |
