| Family: Clupeidae Scientific name: Anodontostoma chacunda (Hamilton-Buchanan) Local name: Selangat, Kebasi Distribution: Shallow coastal waters to about 30m depth Size commonly caught: 10-15cm total length Notes: Body of fish deep, compressed and almost oval. Has a distinct dark spot on its shoulder and scutes on the ventral margin of its rounded abdomen. A common, bony and relatively low-priced fish that is quite abundant at times. |
