| Family: Serranidae Scientific name: Cephalopholis pachycentron (Valenciennes) Local name: Kerapu Distribution: Coastal waters to about 80m depth Size commonly caught: 15-20cm total length Notes: A small grouper with a stout body common in shallow coral reefs and rocky areas. Body light to dark brown in colour with 8 darker vertical bands. Has a dark/brown spot on its operculum between the upper and lower opercular spines. |
