Poem For Grandpa Ingham
Throughout the years
Grandpa was always there
The many hours he spend
lying on the floor
while we ran matchbox cars on him
and the softball games we would play.
Yet with a smile
he was always there
Tears were shed
and laughter was shared
as memories were made
Now, as I look back
at Grandpa's last few weeks
I know why he struggled to stay
even though he has wanted
for years to go home
He did not want to leave
his unsaved kids and grandkids
But towards the end he knew
he couldn't fight anymore
With tears in his eyes
he climbed the stairs to heaven
He turned to look back
but the Lord told him he did well
now it was time for his reward.
As Grandpa climbed the last step
he said Lord what about
The Lord said Harry do not worry
you taught them all well
It's up to them to decide now.
With one last breath
Grandpa entered Heaven.
