| The rapidly approaching season is designated as FALL! However, I prefer AUTUMN! For me, 'fall' is what happens when I miss a step - something I am becoming more familiar with! Thinking of the seasons and their identies I recall a 'silly song' from long ago. A parody to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic : "I wear my silk pajamas in the Summer when it's hot, I wear my woolen nightie in the Winter when it's not. Sometimes in the Springtime but mostly in the Fall, I jump into my sleeping bad with nothing on at all! Glory, glory, what's it to ya - etc." Last winter not only a woolen nightie was needed in this area, but also socks, stocking cap and an electric blanket! As for Spring - rain of course, but often laced with snowflakes. So the woolen nightie continued to be a good choice much of the time. Most common comments around here were "I am so sick of snow, I'll welcome rain!" Then - "I am so tired of rain and snow, we deserve a long, hot summer." |
| Summer HIT earlier than usual for this area. Records were equaled or broken. One stretch of dry weather missed breaking the record by less than an hour. Another stretch broke high records with 3 digit temperatures. And several weeks have had 90+ temps for 3 or more days. So, recent comments now tend to reflect hope for rain and cool weather. Of course when a few cool days arrive and give us a break - the anti/cool, chilly opinions emerge verbally. So weather continues to be a major topic of conversation. It is one of the few subjects people can talk about easily. They usually agree that 'it is hot today', 'it is cool today', 'it is windy, rainy' etc. One person may like it hot, one prefer cool, some enjoy drizzle, some love snow. Though preferences vary, seldom does a difference of opinion on most confortable weather result in heated arguments, angry outbursts , violence, protests or riots! What a difference from other subjects of conversation such as - politics, religion, my rights, etc. As for me - I like to talk about the weather - it is safe, always changing, fun to guess future of, easy to hide from, can call the misleading forecast names, but do have to learn to make changes quickly when planning outings in this part of the country! |

| MY SUMMER ACTIVITIES June 29th thru July 1st - A visit with Vicki and Smitty Lebkeucher in Silverdale, WA. This started with a ferry ride from Edmonds to Kingston across Puget Sound. Had been several years since I had been on the ferry - this is one route I always enjoy. |

| Visiting in their living room?? As a guest I try never to disrupt the usual routine of my hosts! As you can see - they were able to continue with their interests? |
| We picnicked in a park overlooking the water with Mt Rainier in the distance - 'View Supreme'. One day Vicki and I walked along a Nature Trail around Office Buildings, stores - businesses. Interesting along a creek, in woods with decks overlooking the creek, benches, amazing escape in the middle of the city. Meals were exceptional with the Lebkeuchers. Vicki is one of the best with her menus and 'Kitchen Kreations'. Was a special few days for me as for months my outings have been to clinics, hospitals, doctors and all that jazz! So this visit was a real WINNER! |

| AUGUST 22nd My cousin Steve from Tuscon, my Cousin Judy and her husband, Dick, from Whittier, CA were in the area. They had an Alaskan Cruise scheduled out of Seattle so arrived a couple days early for time to visit. A BBQ in Lisa's back yard was the site for the gathering. | Recently, Lisa visited me and was trying out her new digital camera. While here she took these pics - though I wasn't aware anyone else was here! I am hoping someone can identify this person. This is the 'weird old broad' in all my mirrors. Every time I look in a mirror - SHE is there staring back at me. I would like to tell her in person to "STAY OUTTA MY FACE!' |
