The course is aimed at anybody who has had no, or very little, experience of using the Internet. It is helpful if the course members have used a computer before and have a basic knowledge of using a Windows system on a computer.
This course is split into two sections which compliment each other to show the course members how to make the best use of the Internet.
The first half of the course introduces the many and varied aspects when using the Internet to find news and information, as well as how to communicate with other people all around the world. Included in this section are the following items:
The second half of the course teaches the course members how to develop their own Internet Web Site. No previous knowledge of designing web pages is required as it is assumed that the course members have had no prior experience of this subject. At the end of the course some of the students web sites are put onto the Internet for the whole world to see.
Throughout the first half of the course, evidence is collected from each aspect of the Internet and this is added to the printouts from the construction of the web site and these form the major part of the assignment that is required to achieve the certificate for this course.
