NOVEMBER 9-30
November 9 Started motoring at 6 am.  We motored 10 hours.  We have such a small engine and with current against us our speed drops to 3.5 knots per hour.  We set off at 6am, while other boats leave the harbor at 10:00, past us and then arrive at the next anchorage two hours ahead of us.It is so frustrating to see this happen everyday, but we must do what we must to get south and out of the cold. Georgetown SC.
November 10 We motored nine hours and stopped within a National Wildlife Reserve area in a creek. The area is pristine and full of wildlife.  We had music class and I played my recorder as the golden sun was setting.
November 11 Sett off a little later than usual due to bridge restrictions.  Upon arriving at the bridge we realized that the restrictions change on federal holidays and yes today is a federal holiday. oops. We had to wait an hour for the bridge to open.  It is easy to loose track of time and days and just go with the flow. After arriving in Charleston, Bob and Diane dingyed over to see if anyone wanted a tour of the town.  I jumped at the chance leaving the boys on the boat.  Today was the first time I have been able to get away from the rest of the family in 60 days.  I have experienced too much testosterone driven males burps, farts and whatever, I need some alone girly time.
November 12 - 14 Awoke in Charleston and did laundry.  The laundry mat is in a resturant, so you can put your clothes in to wash - order lunch- put the laundry in the dryer - eat lunch - and then pick up the dry clothes.  Nice concept.  I resewed the sail cover to fit properly.  Replaced an oil pressure gage.  Birds keep flying by and pooping on our boat.  Pierce got bird poop on his head.
November 15 Still in Charleston.  It is a full moon tonight.  We went on a Ghost walk around Charleston and through graveyards and a dungeon.  The children were not too scared but facinated.  The ghost stories stayed with us though - definately stories to be told around a camp fire.
November 16 Charleston.  Could not find internet access that worked.  Many places advertise wireless hotspots but they dont work and employees have no idea how to get the wireless working again.
November 17 OH Showers-- it is always a good day when you can get a good hot shower.  I hope never to take hot water for granted again.  We went on a carriage  ride through the streets of Charleston.  The  carriage driver gave a great history lesson of the area.
November 18-19   We are still in Charleston. Cold.  Made hatch screens to keep bugs out.
November 20 We cleaned the boat and then met the Dube's at the dock at 11:00hrs.  The Dube  family are friends from Maine and are in the area.  We went out to eat lunch and then we invited them over to Seaesta.  It was nice to talk to familiar faces.  Later a thunderstorm picked up.  The noise and the rain kept us up most of the night.
November 21 Motored to Ashpoo River.  Pierce cut his foot on an oyster shell.  The wound was so deep I had to apply butterfly stiches.  I am very thankful for a properly equiped medical supply box.
November 22 Set off and motored through Ashpoo cut.  The water was so shallow that a four foot draft boat motoring behind us touched bottom but made it through.  We have a 6ft draft and the only way we made it through the cut was by sailing.  (The boat tips and the keel is at an angle)
November 23 Cold Cold Cold, Georgia water is very skinny, we are trying to get through the bad parts at high tide. Charles Creek.
November 24 Thanksgiving -see Thanksgiving page.
November 25 Sailed and motored to Jekyll Island.  Today is the busiest shopping day of the year and we saw no shops or cars...joy.
November 26 We motored to Fernandino Beach on Amelia Island, FLORIDA!!! It is strange to see Christmas lights in warm weather. 65 degrees F.
Charleston, South Carolina.
