March  2007
March 1st - 7th, We are in Georgetown for the Cruising Kids Day.  The boys were very excited for all the fun days events.  From eight in the morning till four in the afternoon the boys ran and played organised activities with the Georgetown school kids.  Playing all day on the beach in the hot sun resulted in tired boys.   This week is jammed packed with activites and competitions for all.  James is racing in the sail boat race - but not with Seaesta... We have met many people who were here last year and seem to visit year after year.  To give you a sense of the place, imagine a harbor a mile across filled with 350 cruising sailboats.  The VHF radio has conostant chatter on it.  I spent four hours this morning doing four loads of laundry at the local laundrymat and paid $35 for the privilage. I also brought three five gallon jugs over to town to fill with water.  I have  to bring the water back to our boat since our water tank onboard has cracks in it.   Next I do groceries in an overpriced store where beef costs $11 lb and bread is $4 a loaf.  Once I accomplish the basics chores I load up the dinghy and drive a mile in choppy seas praying our circa 1960 motor does not cut out.  If all goes well I may make it to the beach today and be able to relax.
March James has finally come to the conclusion that I really mean that I am not going to continue to Venezuela.  So he sold the charts there and then over the VHF and said we would sail north tomorrow slowly...
