Frequently Asked Questions

 Q. Are inflatable boats pool toys?

No, inflatable boats can be used in oceans, lakes and rivers.  Depending on the inflatable they can even be used in rapids.

Q. Can I use a motor on my inflatable boat

Yes, depending on your boat you can use either an electric or gas outboard.

Q.Do inflatable boats easily puncture?

No, we have been using our boats for 2 years and have only had one small puncture and we did not even realize it until we got out of the water.  A quick repair with the kit included has been solid for over a year so far.

Q. How long will a battery last using an electric motor?

This depends on the motor but we use a 30 pound thrust motor and with our deep cycle battery can get 3 hours if we use the motor at full speed up to 6 hours if we are using slower speeds.

Q. Are Sea Eagle inflatables hard to set up?

Most boats can be set up in under 30 minutes and get easier every time you do it.

Q. Do I need a Marine radio?

No you are only required to have a marine radio if your boat is over 20 feet but if you are going to be using your boat in the ocean or in a bay area it is a good safety precaution to have one. Plus most of the handheld marine radios also are weather alert radios which is handy to have when you are out in the water. Here is a great site to check out for information on Marine radios

Click Here for Marine radio info.

Q. What other safety equipment do I need?

Almost all state boating regulations require a PFD (personal flotation device or life vest) for everyone on the boat. If you are going to be using the boat at night you will need lights there are battery operated lights available.

Q. Where can I find the regulations for inflatable boats in my state?

That depends on your state eventually I want to build a database of links to all the states regulations websites, for now the easiest way it to do a google search for boat regulations "state".

Q. Do I need a boat ramp to launch my boat?

No, you do not need much water under your boat to get started at all. Kayaks can float in less than 6 inches of water; if you are using a motor on one of the other boats a foot of water under your boat should be enough.

Q. What accessories do I need for my boat?

Thats up to you, what you need and how much you want to spend. The floorboards are a great addition if you are going to use a motor, they help support your battery if you are using an electric motor. Some people like the bench seats that are available, they are great for fishing but we use our SE 8 and 9 for pleasure cruising and prefer to sit on an inflatable seat and plain old and cheap stadium seat pads. They also make a canopy for some of the boats we decided against this just because we like being out in the sun and usually do not go out when it is raining. But again it is up to personal prefrence.
