| * ~~~~SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THE SEACLIFF ~~~ * The Seacliff Tavern Inn has been around (in real life time) for about 7 years now, since April 2002. During that time, Josie (the primary owner) has come to realize just how many dangers there are even in a remote corner of Rhydin. As such, the Seacliff has been imbued with several protective systems. 1) There is a general series of wards in place around the Seacliff, most notably the Tavern itself (aka the "Common Room".) These are primarily to protect the Seacliff against being destroyed by the myriad power-mad nutcases that roam the land. They are not infallible - (and by that I mean, if you come talk to Josie or one of the hosts in IM, we can come to an arrangement. But don't expect us to just accept you blowing the mezzanine away.) These wards are most effective against blunt force and fire. 2) These wards were emplaced by Luthienne Chanard, a sorceress of some repute and also Josie's mother. Again, they are not infallible, but you're not removing them or countering them without talking to Josie or one of the hosts first. Communication helps. 3) The third floor of the Seacliff is the most heavily warded area of the building. The wards there are detailed and intricate, and were set up painstakingly over the course of months. You cannot teleport past them, or take things away, or get up there if you're not invited. The third floor is the haven - and again, if you want to talk otherwise, IM Josie or Ylla. They're the only ones who can counter the third-floor wards. 4) There aren't any dark corners in the Seacliff, sorry. The floorplan should bear that out if you look at it - both 'corners' that have tables are fairly well lit. There are candles and torches all over the place, and those seats are both near windows as well. 5) The Seacliff is almost never Self-Serve. If Josie, Ylla, Alari or one of the other tenders isn't online and in the room, you can assume that one of the existing NPC barkeeps is there. If it's in the daytime, (roughly 8am to 7pm) it's probably Patrick. If it's after dark, it's Agar. The place is NEVER left unattended IC. If no one's there playing a barkeep, we encourage people to RP the NPC-barkeeps giving them their drinks. Just don't take any liberties with the characters, please. |
