The Tropical Star Hotel

Location: The Tropical Star Hotel is located in St Leonards, a shire north-east of Barwon Heads and east out of Geelong.

Its Role in SeaChange: The Tropical Star Hotel is a local institution which has been the headquarters for many of the Pearl Bay Council meetings. It is owned and operated by Meredith Monahan, the towns local matriarch. One of the features that distinguishes this pub from the common stereotype about Australian pubs is that it is filled with books and videos on almost every possible topic. Not exactly what most Australian pub-goers would expect.

History: The Tropical Star was named accordingly when the show was first being developed, and the show was to be set in the tropics, hence the name. However, when the show had a change of location, the name stuck. Also, the Tropical Star underwent an indoor renovation recently, so the normal setting that we are used to may not be quite the same.
