Trillium Blue's Key To Success
aka
KeyKey Or Keekers
|
KeyKey came to me on May 10, 2002. She is my first "show quality" hopeful.
I had wanted a show dog for the longest time after I found out that Nakita
was more of a pet quality siberian husky rather than a show quality. When
Nakita stood or "stacked", it would seem her neck was too short and her front
feet looked like she had duck feet. I went in search of responsible breeders
and went to as many shows I could attend.
I was talking to a friend of mine and surfing the web, when Angie sent me
a link for InfoDog. The link consisted of
a picture of a very handsome red/white siberian husky dog. This dog's name
is CH Trillium's Mystic Mytuk of Aslan. Angie was stating how she wanted
a "Tucker" puppy sometime in the future. I liked the look of this dog, he
was everything I wanted in a show dog. The main question now was....Who is
the breeder or owner and how do I find them.
It took me several weeks before I could find a name and address that went
together and found out about Trillium Blue
Siberians, located in Georgia near Atlanta. I emailed the Trillium Blue
Siberians and started to chat with them regarding the possibility of purchasing
a puppy from them for conformation. I found out that Diane and Liz would
be at a show near my home and proceeded to make plans to meet with them and
discuss this option further.
At the show in Ocala, Florida, I had the opportunity to watch a little bitch
of Trillium Blue's to finish her championship. Tequila knew she won as soon
as she went into the ring. Liz was sitting with me and showing me what to
look for in the dogs as they go around the ring. She told me what to watch
out for, what to do and what not to do. After Tequila's win, we all went
back to their vehicle and got to see Tucker. Along with Tucker were several
other of Liz's dogs, one of them being Trillium Blue's Daisy Duke.
Now Daisy is concidered a show dog as she has pointed but not yet finished.
Daisy was a beautiful red/white bitch that is a very very lovable siberian.
Not that most are not, but she seemed to invite you to put your arms around
her neck and nuzzle her fur. Tucker is the same way. They all "talked" to
me and tried to out do each other in getting my attention.
I was in love with both Tucker and Daisy at first sight. Liz told me that
she had a planned breeding with Daisy and Tucker and then another with Tequila.
Liz told me to stay in touch and when the breeding occured between Daisy
and Tucker, she would let me know of the due date.
March 09, 2002 -- A litter of 9 puppies were brought into the world via
c-section. Unfortunately, one of those precious babies were lost. I recieved
an email by Liz telling me of the arrival and that once they got a bit bigger,
she would send pictures of those in which she thought were of show quality.
April, 2002 -- Pictures of the little girls available to show homes were
emailed. and I had first choice of who I wished to have. I chose out of them,
Mariah. It was a hard choice as all of them were dolls.
May 11, 2002 -- The long drive from Jacsonville, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia.
5 hours one way. Jessical and I pull into Liz's driveway. Apprehension
is at its peak. Liz and Diane greet us with open arms and very warm smiles.
We talk for a while, get a tour of the house, cuddle with the other new litter
in the house and with an older pup outside. The time has come to see Mariah,
who I have chosen to call KeyKey, short for Trillium Blue's Key to Success.
Jessica went straight to her with out knowing which little girl was ours.
I wanted all of them! KeyKey was brought inside to be given a bath while
the last of the paperwork was drawn up. Daisy, now naked (no coat) from
the delivery and Tucker kept close to be loved upon. Finally the trip home.
The introduction of KeyKey with Kita was great. There wasn't any fighting
and Kita was immediately "mom".
Now starts the classes on a weekly basis in a town that is in a town over
an hour away. Thanks to Liz for the names of Jackie and Vel, the instructors
of the class. We have entered several shows now, no points yet, but KeyKey
is still a bit of a teenager and in her gangly stage. When she finally fills
out, watch out , as she will do as her name states.... be the Key to Success.
My thanks to Liz and Diane for all their help, understanding and patience
for a beginner like me. |
