SNL REVIEWS
I have a lot of reviews that I've done so far this year.  After six months of the existence of this new thread, I have make time to put them in its own separate page.  Well, on this page is one of many.  Enjoy
Ben Affleck/N.E.R.D.
Shortly after the confirmation that Ben was hosting Saturday Night Live, the first thing that came to several people's mind was how horrible a show it was going to be.  Obviously this was based on the BENNIFER storyline, coming from people, several of whom forgot about his 2000 hosting stint (or were too young to watch just 4 years ago).  Even if he didn't show up on SNL, he might have been slated to be a great host, based on Justin and Jessica's shows (where people didn't think they'd fair well).

The bottom line here is that anything can happen, excluding the slated season finale with those jailbait-for-dummies-twins from Full House and their show, which will suck no matter what.

TOP STORY

Nothing really happened this week; last week was so huge that things kind of died down.  Anyway, it's all about March Madness this week, but that was in the latter part of the week.  Now it's about watching movies, since I had some downtime this past week.  I finally saw 2 Fast 2 Furious for the first time since last June.  Of course, the majority would rank the first one over this one any day.  However, the sequel was definitely off the hook, especially for a movie where Paul Walker was the only main character to return.  Thanks to Walker's cocky attitude, and a lot of other things, the movie is a keeper.  I remember wishing over the summer that Universal would turn this into a trilogy.  It would be pretty cool if someone could work a deal to have Eva Mendes, Ludacris, Tyrese, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, and Michelle Rodriguez [Not to self: Check spelling] show up in a hopeful third movie (for a possible Summer 2005 release).  Too bad it basically won't happen.  The movie series has already run its course.  Yeah, there was a third American Pie movie as well as other third installments, but there shouldn't have been.  Two movies is plenty here.  I wish people would take examples from video games, where after one sequel, it's over.  Of course, Super Mario Brothers doesn't count (although SMB3 was a perfect ending point).

Other than that, I chilled and again tuned into Fast Times, Breakfast Club, and basically everything else from the 80s.  I was ill, so I didn't feel like going anywhere.  So it was movies and college hoops all week.  That's pretty much what the coming week's going to be about, except I'm actually going back to work, but will be out by 11:00 each day after over the hump day.  In addition, I'm going out (especially with yet another club opening up this week).  The locals may know what I'm talking about, but this coming week is looking like it'll shape out quite well.

Speaking of which, American Idol is ready to start.  Yeah, I'm not talking about the crap-ass auditions, the survivor rounds, and the Top 32 featuring the Wild Card round.  It's all about the finals.  It should be interesting.  By the way, if you're reading this review, there's also a Prediction Game for American Idol.  Therefore, if you watch and/or like American Idol, you're more than welcome to participate in the game.  Just make sure to send in your picks in between the conclusion of the singing show and the results show.  I'm not putting a thread for the game on the messageboard.  Either send in the picks HERE or HERE.  Good luck in advance.  The rules are explanatory.

WEATHER

It's wasn't too bad except for the first couple of days, but what did I care?  I didn't go anywhere!

SPORTS

Revenge is just too sweet, except when you're the victim.  PITT looked to be struggling against UCONN, but then pulled it together by the half.  Unfortunately, mistakes cost them a repeat against the team that they toppled a year prior.  As a result, PITT dropped the title to the team that earned them the title not too long ago.  Well, maybe they'll get lucky in March Madness (and of course I have no time to get my picks in between now and Thursday by Noon.

MY GAME

The scores were great, the show was great, and something that I almost mentioned as a possibility actually happened in terms of the game. As in something that has never happened before. Ever.

THE SHOW

This should be a good show.  And then after it's over, there a two-week break before two more live shows, followed by another two-week break, then three more live shows (including one where I'll probably spend 90 percent of the review ranting about anything not related to the show itself), and then a nice and longer break where a lot of changes will be made.  I so cannot wait for summer.

And now, the rev-

Change of plans!  Obviously, other folks speculated that we were bound to have to sit through a Sully and Denise skit, based on the track record of there being one with Ben hosting.  Not that theres anything wrong with that.  Heres Donnie Bartalotti (Bens character)s debut in this segments.

THE BOSTON TEENS (Classic from February 19, 2000)

Basically, when you come across an even bigger partier than Sully, the fact remains that hes going to go after your girl.  After all, what are you going to do about it?  On normal cases, you have to sit there and take it, or you can spend whatevers left of your life consuming food and drink from a straw (which will actually be better off than the obvious).
[Writers NTA: One would have to speculate that this might have been the trigger to Jimmys now continuous character breaking track record via laughter].  Man, they should have had this character in the pilot Boston Teens segment, because this was great, that being with Ben and Jimmys cracking up (maybe thanks to Horatio) [Auto edit from Snlspy: And that would be yet another foreshadowing moment, no?]

100/100

And now, the review (no joke)

BOSTON TEENS

Its kind of difficult to top the high-class performance that was the first-ever Donnie included Sully and Denise sketch.
[Auto edit from Snlspy: ITA, especially when you give it a perfect score!] As a result, why not let it achieve a tie?  Because this season sucks, the season finale will suck, and theres no guarantee that this episode will be all that great.  Im not one to bitch about what the episode may bring, but I also had high hopes for Robert DeNiros show.

The premise of this skit would have been perfect for last weeks show, except it was probably better off in this format.  Also, Ben wasnt around last week, which is why it was fine right here.  Apart from HOS, this was great!

98/100 Original Score plus 8 since it was non-political

MONOLOGUE

Imagine this; you get a legit cold opening, and one segment later, we have a real monologue.  Sweet!

100/100

Z-105

This wasnt too bad, but I really didnt care for it today.

92/100 Original score plus 15 for sympathetic reasons

The next live show is none other than The Donald with musical guest, The Hair!  This should be a good show.

FRONDI

I really dont have much to say here, but Im with anyone that says that this should become recurring.  Man this show is great so far!

99/100

SeaBreeze:
Im tired here.
Kiefer: Thats too bad.  You better finish this review or Ill really make this go quick
SeaBreeze: Im on it.  That Z-105 segment bored me to death.
Kiefer: You dont even know yet.  Thats the least of your problems
SeaBreeze:
Not really, although with SNLS recent success, youre pretty much correct.

SNLTOONS

No comment.  This was too good for words.  Actually, Mel Gibsons part was all that mattered here.

99/100

APPALACHIAN STUFF

Whatever!  Not everything can be perfect here.

81/100

ADS PART I

Okay I guess.  Not all that exciting, but great nevertheless!

85/100

MUSIC

Yawn!

80/100 Original Score Plus 30

If you would like to add your issues, questions, and/or comments about the review thus far, the remainder of the review, and everything else, HOLLA at the Yahoo address for SeaBreeze341.  Thanks in advance.

SATURDAY NIGHT NEWS

Weekend Update was alright, but not as great as last weeks WU.  Something tells me (while theres more Clinton) that Darrell isnt going to be on SNL much longer.

90/100

TOP O THE MORNING

Im really tempted to do another flashback sketch (mainly the Cold Opening from Billy Crystal and Michael McKeans shows), but I am just too beat to care about that right now.  Obviously this wasnt as great as the other ones, but when its not the first sketch of the show, it comes as no surprise.
[Auto edit from Snlspy: Not like it would have made a difference anyway!]

97/100 Original Score plus 20

Pop Survey: Was the Top O The Morning sketch best off here or at the beginning of the show?

A: Here
B: Beginning
C: Neither beginning nor here
D: At the end where everyone would have passed out long enough to miss it

ADS PART II

See
ADS PART I.  However, I will add that this one was better than the first one, semi-thanks to Kelly Ripa.

90/100

SIDECAR

Too perfect for words!

100/100

ADS PART III

You know the drill.

95/100 Original Score Plus a ton of points because I can!

MUSIC

85/100

FULL MOON KILLER

I guess this is the annual Lets all laugh at the end of this cheesy segment that has no plot, and then have the screen freeze a la 80s sitcom endings sketch (with last years being the concluding skit from Queen Latifahs show before the Mr. Rogers tribute).
[Auto edit from Snlspy: My how weve forgotten about Drew Barrymores show already have we not?!]

70/100

Total: 1361
Average: 90.73
Average After Curve: 91.31

Very great show!  I think this is the first time in a while (sans the Jack Black show) that a show that I was expecting to be good was actually great.  Anyway, thats it.  See you on April 3.  Peace.
