| SNL REVIEWS | ||||||||||||||||
| I have a lot of reviews that I've done so far this year. After six months of the existence of this new thread, I have make time to put them in its own separate page. Well, on this page is one of many. Enjoy | ||||||||||||||||
| Alec Baldwin/Missy Elliott | ||||||||||||||||
| Well, Alec is back, so you know that this is going to be a great show. Sans counting 1994, all of Alec Baldwin's appearances were pretty damn good. Well, during the week, the talk of Jessica Lynch and Elizabeth Smart got to a point where I was actually hoping SNL would parody these stories. Seeing them return to safety was great, but the constant talk over this got a little annoying. I mean, give it a rest. And then to add insult to injury, Larry Flint's talking about Jessica Lynch to be in Hustler. WTF Well, The AFC North could be the first team (in a long time possibly) to feature a team make the post-season with a losing record. It's basically fair game this season. As for the Big East, I think Pitt is fucked. Then again, they couldn't beat Toledo, so it's not like it'll be a total heartbreak to not come out on top. Finally, in the SNL Players Prediction Game, this was the best, record-breaking week. In a nutshell, this is in every aspect! Results will surface sometime this week, hopefully, but definitely before the next live show. Time for the review: DUBYA Here's what I think: Either get Will to do Bush a couple times, put Parnell back as Bush, or don't do Bush at all. It wouldn't be the first time SNL went without a president impersonation. MONOLOGUE Even Jimmy and Horatio couldn't prevent this monologue from jumping the shark. And you can thank the greatness that is Mike Myers. HUGGIES THONG Whatever I put about this is in the review that I reviewed this segment. DOCTOR LANDSMAN This rocked! ZING V. BURN No comment TONY BENNETT I don't know what they did to him, but Horatio actually did well here. He basically channeled himself back to 1998 where he was actually good, and delivered the goods here. GAYSTROGEN Well, with this sketch, I think we've found a replacement for Chris Kattan. Plain and simple. FALCONER While this wasn't the best of the Falconer skits, a Falconer skit is better than no Falconer skit at all. Also, it looks as if Kenan will be passed up by Finesse. MUSIC No Comment SATURDAY NIGHT NEWS Weekend Update plus Will Forte equals WU comedy gold. Also, weekend update minus Horatio Sanz equals WU comedy gold. PRINCE CHARLES I think Ian McKellan would have done well in a cameo role here. KEEN CORPORATION Alec and Amy definitely have great chemistry together. That's about all this skit had though. MUSIC No comment. ROY AND SIEGFREID WTF. As several people have inquired, If it's not OK to air a documentary about the Reagans because Ronnie has Alzheimer's, why is it OK for SNL to make fun of a guy who's seriously ill? Or a guy that died? My guess is because the SNL crew features a bunch of hypocrites. I guess if you're hated by people, or if you're not exactly the most faithful and kind, it's not right to make fun of the individual, because how would I feel if I was the butt of a nasty joke? STUDIO STUFF It might have been the last skit, but that's really not a good excuse for this to suck. But it really doesn't matter, because the SNL News got a perfect score, and this show gets an A for awesome. That's it. Fortunately I've got two weeks to catch up on some things. Plus, I get to sleep in and/or stay up to do anything other than writing a review for the next couple of Sundays. WOO HOO! Final Grade = A |
