SNL REVIEWS
I have a lot of reviews that I've done so far this year.  After six months of the existence of this new thread, I have make time to put them in its own separate page.  Well, on this page is one of many.  Enjoy
Dan Aykroyd/Beyonce
With Dan Ackroyd hosting, Im hoping that Jim Belushi shows up.  Anytime a member of Dick Ebersols crew shows up during Lorne Michaels reign is cool with me.  Of course, Jim Belushis appearance is a given, and Im pretty sure that John Goodmans appearance is as well.

MISTER. FRED ROGERS

I'm glad to see that I'm far from being the only one who loved Mr. Rogers. It hit me pretty hard (probably harder than most) when he died on February 27. Being from the same area of Pennsylvania, it's a big blow when someone, especially someone as nice as Mr. Rogers, passes away. I met him, no joke, 20 years ago, and he was so kind, that he made other kind people I knew look not so kind. I've run into him and conversed several times between then and now, but despite not actually being the best of friends with him, he was always a friend to me, and I always respected him.

Now that he's gone, the world is a sadder place. Mr. Rogers will forever be considered one of my best friends. If there's anyone that deserves to go to Heaven, it's him.

"Any man's death diminishes me." - John Doone

Goodbye Mr. Rogers. We all love you and you will be missed by everyone.

THE BEST NEWS OF THE WEEK

The Lakers are out of the NBA Playoffs!  Finally!  While they were always stepping up to the plate and taking advantage of being a star-studded team, they always made sure that the opposing team didnt even win as much as one single game during the competition.  Well, its about time, because Im looking forward to a series this year.

NBA

See previous section.

AMERICAN IDOL

Its 50/50 between Clay and Ruben right now.  Its too close to call.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT $1,000,000 SPECIALS

Its sweeps.  Therefore, CBS feels the need to run the three specials on the same nights as the final three SNL episodes during the season.  Nevertheless, these specials rocked, and it was a prep for SNL, except not.  If you missed the specials, then heres a recap of them:

Saturday, May 03, 2003

Game One: Five Price Tags (W)
Game Two: Grand Game (W)
Game Three: Push Over (W)
SCSD #1: Five Price Tags Player Wins
Game Four: Dice Game (L)
Game Five: One Right Price (W)
Game Six: Easy as 123 (W)
SCSD #2: One Right Price Player Wins
Showcases: Five Price Tags Player Wins

Grand Game was played for $20,000 and One Right Price was played for two cars.
$160,000 + was won by the big winner, and the runner up didnt win the 1M

Saturday, May 10, 2003

Game One: Let Em Roll (W)
Game Two: Any Number (L)
Game Three: Make Your Move (W)
SCSD #1: Let Em Roll Player Wins
Game Four: Plinko (20K+ Won)
Game Five: Lucky $even (L)
Game Six: Double Prices (L)
SCSD #2: Lucky $even Player Wins
Showcases: Lucky $even Player Wins

Let Em Roll has a new look, and the player who played that game came as close as one can without hitting $1, toward winning the 1M.  A Hummer was offered.  Its only a matter of time before Hummers everywhere become overrated.

Saturday, May 17, 2003

Game One: Spelling Bee (W)
Game Two: Its In The Bag (L)
Game Three: Freeze Frame (L)
SCSD #1: Spelling Bee Player Wins
Game Four: Cover Up (W)
Game Five: Barkers Bargain Bar (L)
Game Six: Money Game (W)
SCSD #2: Barkers Bargain Bar Player Wins
Showcases: Barkers Bargain Bar Player Wins

The third installment blew, and once again, another player came as close as one can without hitting $1, toward winning the 1M.  Todays victim was the Spelling Bee contestant.  If you didnt watch the third show, you didnt miss anything.

MY GAME

We finally have a brand new champion, and the participant deserved it.  After several close calls, it finally happened, and on the last show of the season.  Theres gonna be a lot of changes next year (hopefully everyone wont have a problem with the changes), but the seasons over, and as we get close to the new season, all of the stuff will be disclosed.  Lets focus on the summer now.  Oh, and the results are at the bottom of the review (except at Voy, where the results will be more in detail).

THE SHOW

Danny Boy is the star of the show.  I believe that hes the third original cast member to host.  Actually, Im pretty sure hes the second, since Bill Murray wasnt an actual castmember in 1975-1976, despite being a part of the first five years.  Well, after writing the review, Im off to learn how to spell Danny Boys name correctly.

And now, the review

HARDBALL

This was not too bad.  Maybe its because I was at a bar when the show was on and didnt focus.  Then when I got home, someone messed with both my original tape and the backup, so I couldnt look back at the tape.  Therefore, Im going to be a little harsh and a little lenient in my grading.  Kattan should have been in this, but its not like hes not going to shine tonight

93/100

MONOLOGUE

A lot of people didnt like this, and thats understandable.  Hats off to Jim for filling in large shoes.  Im sure he knows that nothing will beat the original Blues Brothers.  After seeing this, I have this feeling that we could see a lot of Dan, Jim, and John (who wasnt in this) next year, and the following year.  Right now, I dont know what to expect next year, but Im not thinking about next year.  I still liked this, despite everyones thoughts.

100/100 = Original Score Plus 30 for Jim showing up.

TOP O THE MORNING

I really wasnt feeling this, DAWG.

60/100

RIALTO GRANDE

This is probably going to be the only thing that Im going to miss when Chris leaves.  I wish this had come out long ago.  Then again, the sketch would have worn out its welcome.

83/100

THE FALCONER

JOHN!!!   Besides that, and this being the best Falconer sketch, it wasnt worn watching more than twice.

90/100 = original times 2 since I really didnt follow the show as well as I have all year

SNLTOONS

This wasnt RBSS best cartoon, but seeing as how last weeks was too good, its only fair to give this a:

88/100

DONATELLA VERSACE

Goodman as Anna Nicole Smith was just priceless, and then we were treated to Jeffs Letterman.  I havent decided if I like this more than Joe Piscopos Dave, but right now, Norms Dave is still the best, and a classic.

83/100

AND NOW HERES TONIGHTS VERY SPECIAL MUSICAL GUEST

This rocked, and I enjoyed this more than the Bonnie and Clyde thing performance from the traditional lackluster first half of the SNL season.

100/100

SATURDAY NIGHT NEWS

The jokes really didnt make me laugh, but Chriss terrible enactment did, probably because it was a complete shout out from his almost 8 years on the show.

78/100

ASTRONAUT JONES

Boy did I enjoy this.  I had to enjoy this for a ton of reasons, but the biggest (and most emotional) was because this is the last time were going to see Tracy in anything.  Seven years on the show, and the amount of sketches that he had is like the equivalent of what a star-studded cast member would put in three years.

100/100

THE DOG RESTAURANT

Didnt like this.  Well this could very well be Deans final sketch, or his final sketch as a featured player.  Even when (or if) he becomes a regular cast member next year, hell still be underused.  Two years on the show, and the amount of sketches that he had is like the equivalent of what a star-studded cast member would put in one show (well, almost up to the number, but)

60/100

MUSIC

Not bad, but its getting late.  No 100 out of 100, but

95/100

CRAP

Who the hell cares if this sucked or not, its the end of the Season, and its <b><u>Summertime!!!</u></b>

60/100

AVERAGE 83.85

The show was pretty good.  And no!  This was not the best. Show. Ever.  It wasnt even close.  However, based on the whole season, this is the best way to close it out.  Had the season been a great one, then this show would not have been season-ending material.  When the show makes it too SYN, the following will be cut:

ITS SUMMERTIME!

Chris is gone, and Tracy is gone as well.  I guess Tracy thought that he was going to get a show like Chris got, or like Will did last year.  He really hasnt done anything to deserve it, whether he was given the chance or not.  He should have left two years ago, or maybe he should have stuck around for another year.  But its too late.  Time to clean house.  Amy P is going to be the star next year, except when Jimmy and Horatio steal the spotlight.  Im pretty sure that SNL is going to clean house, and thats a good thing.  However, Im worried that the wrong people may get the boot (such as Fred and Will).  The last thing we need is those two getting Jerry Minored.  Fred shouldnt, since everything hes done on the show has been done more than once.  Well, Jerry Minor was also given several recurring sketches, and look at him now.

With two years of Featured Playerism, and with Tracy and Chris leaving, I see Dean getting bumped up, as well as Seth.  Jeff will probably get the bump up since Darrells on his way out (2004 more likely than now).  Fred and Wills chances of getting bumped up are 50/50, and thats based on Rachel, Tina, Maya, and Amys promotion spree of two years ago.  Actually, Rachels took 2 years, Maya was on for two shows a year ago, and Tina was a part of the SNL family for three years before she became an SNL player.  Fred and Will deserve it, and they may have something in their contract that Amy had.  Also, theres a vacancy.  Then again, Jeff and Seth are higher up.  Bottom line is if they want it, they have to earn and get it.  I was talking about Fred and Will.

As for Jimmy and Horatio, while people dont really like them, they wanted the spotlight, and worked hard to get it.  However, when it counts, they arent all that.  Chris wont go, I think, because to be fired prematurely twice is no good.  Also, hes the president.  Maya could be going, or she could be staying.  Its too close to call.  Rachels probably gonna stick around for at least one more year.  I think I hit everyone.  If everyone that hasnt said they were leaving returns next year, I could see 2 or 3 newer faces next year.  Anything can happen.

Here are the results from the SNL PG:

Mitch Scrotum is the winner, with a bunch of points.  A detailed summary will surface on the site, and at Voy.  It would be on here, but the new one day deadline isnt enough time all the time, especially when its the end of the season and when I went out last night and when I slept late, and was enjoying the night which meant no reviewing at 7:00 am first thing, or right after the show.  Well, its over.  Also, the spoiler count was 6 out of 9.

Thats it.  Enjoy the summer, and God Bless!
