SNL REVIEWS
I have a lot of reviews that I've done so far this year.  After six months of the existence of this new thread, I have make time to put them in its own separate page.  Well, on this page is one of many.  Enjoy
Salma Hayek / Christina Aguilera
With Salma Hayek hosting, its about time that the spotlight moves away from J-LO and back to the future Mrs. Norton.

MISTER. FRED ROGERS

I'm glad to see that I'm far from being the only one who loved Mr. Rogers. It hit me pretty hard (probably harder than most) when he died on February 27. Being from the same area of Pennsylvania, it's a big blow when someone, especially someone as nice as Mr. Rogers, passes away. I met him, no joke, 20 years ago, and he was so kind, that he made other kind people I knew look not so kind. I've run into him and conversed several times between then and now, but despite not actually being the best of friends with him, he was always a friend to me, and I always respected him.

Now that he's gone, the world is a sadder place. Mr. Rogers will forever be considered one of my best friends. If there's anyone that deserves to go to Heaven, it's him.

"Any man's death diminishes me." - John Doone

Goodbye Mr. Rogers. We all love you and you will be missed by everyone.

THE BEST NEWS OF THE WEEK

Elizabeth Smart and her return to her home in Utah was the best news of this week, and one of the best so far this year.  After being gone for 9 months and a week, it was nice to see that the cops not only found her and not only arrested those responsible for her disappearance, but that she was found alive.  Elizabeth (probably) had no idea that she was saved from any crazy ordeals this past Wednesday, but its nice that the one of several cases of abducted girls, children (most of which ended quite badly) have a happy ending.  Miracles do happen.

NCAA

The Pittsburgh Panthers are the Big East Champions!  Everyone knew that it was going to happen, despite Brandon Knights injury this past Friday!  Seeing as how its the first time, maybe theyll get into the Final Four for the first time (and then some).  It would be great for this era.

MY GAME

I havent even started to tally this up.  Id hate to see the MVP be decided based on this week, but Im not the one to be such a hypocrite and bend the rules because we are all lazy and expect the benefit of the doubt all the time.  I mean, how many times have as of late have I hooked everybody up?  Fortunately, there are some folks that dont procrastinate, especially after all of the warnings that Ive given to the status of VOY, and then there are the ones that take advantage of PLAN B, thanks to me making it available for that reason.  In the end, it could hurt several people (myself included), but what am I going to do if I dont act?!  I dont act, and then other folks that did the right thing in the event of a malfunction could pay the price.  If backup plans fail, meaning ALL of the other ones fail, then Id hook everyone up.  Bottom line is, has, and always will be that Im neutral, and I tried to reach out to everyone.  Next time, in the future, and from now on, under normal circumstances, take advantage of my email address; if it wasnt available (and it was), then thats a different story.  Dont abuse it either, because we all lose, and were all smarter than that.  Basically, despite the rules, when the opportunity was possible for me to do so, I reached out to everyone!

THE SHOW

Salma Hayek is hosting.  This should be a great show.  When you think its going to suck, it ends up being funny.

And now, the review

BUSH ANSWERS NON-RELATED QUESTIONS

This is so true!  This is one of the times that CHPS Bush was at its prime.  Its nice to be able to see this version of Bush out of the Oval Office.  It should help build the character.  On another not so related note, it looks as if the folks that chose CHP to open the show more than anyone else this year are going to have an advantage in the Big Picture Prediction thing that was done at the beginning of the season.

90/100

MONOLOGUE

I took off points because you could tell what kind of monologue this was going to be.  Then all of a sudden, Ed Norton reveals himself as the guy who I tried to figure out that was hiding his face.  He did a pretty good job of it.

80/100

TOP O THE MORNING

These arent too bad, but not good enough to be on this early in the show.  However, Im awarding points, thanks to JIF not cracking up, especially after HOSS random appearance.  Christina should have been in this, because she actually has Irish blood, a lot more so than the host.  But shes not the host, and it wouldnt have made the sketch any better than it was.

85/100 = original score plus 4 for Jimmy composing himself.

SNLTOONS

Whenever RBS does some original TV Funhouse material, theyre usually good.  Most of the time, you assume that youre gonna see X-Presidents, Fun with Real Audio, and Ace & Gary, but then you get Mr. T, Find the Black People at the Knicks B-Ball game, and Are You Hot?  I dont know where to begin here on how good this was, although it doesnt deserve 100 points thanks to the ending.

98/100

VERSACE

This wasnt good at first.  Then Salma and MJ showed up and made it better.  And then Chrissy showed up and made it worse.

85/100 = original score plus about 30 more points for a DEE MJ impression

THE BOX

I really dont have any comment, nor do I have a title for this, and I shouldnt grade this.  All I can say is, I didnt hate it.

77/100

SALMA VS. CHICAGO

This wasnt bad; it didnt suck.  However, I actually enjoyed Chicago.  Its either going to be that, Gangs of New York winning all the prizes, or everyone concluding that the Academy Awards are rigged next week.

93/100

MUSIC

Not bad; not that good.

80/100

SATURDAY NIGHT NEWS

Allow me to correct myself from last week.  Its amazing how Jimmy cant keep a straight face, but right after Tinas jokes, he doesnt even come close to ACTUALLY smiling!  I still believe next year is Jimmys last (at least at the Desk).  However, Jimmy did well this week.  After the Avril thing, the Ferecito, and his song, the fact that he lost it again deserves points, because several other people would have!

96/100

SEDUCTION

TRM being in this, plus FRAS character equals:

100/100

SALMA VS. CHICAGO II

See SALMA VS. CHICAGO

93/100

KING KONG

These are the kinds of sketches that show up last, not third-to-last.  I cant help but to think that NBC is letting SNL get away with a lot of this funny stuff.  The good thing about it is that the people that shouldnt be watching this wont get it.  Therefore, everybody wins.

99/100 = Original Score 1 for this not showing up earlier.

MUSIC

Not bad, not that good.

80/100 = Original score plus the year Chrissy was born (sans the 19..) (birthyear/2)

SALMA VS. CHICAGO III

See SALMA VS. CHICAGO II

93/100

AVERAGE 89.21

The show was above average.  Also, its worth watching during reruns, just like I hoped for last week.  In syndication, the following will probably be cut:

SALMA VS. CHICAGO II
KING KONG
SNL NEWS
SEDUCTION
TOON

Once again, even though the Seduction and Top O The Morning should have switched places, this was a great show.  Jimmy mentioning the fact that non-Irish people who become hypocrites and decide that theyll be Irish only on St. Patricks Day so they can drink, deciding to overtake the bars on his day brings back memories of the Cold Opening from the Billy Crystal episode from 1984.

See you next time.
