SNL REVIEWS
I have a lot of reviews that I've done so far this year.  After six months of the existence of this new thread, I have make time to put them in its own separate page.  Well, on this page is one of many.  Enjoy
Christopher Walken / Foo Fighters
Christopher Walken hosting for a sixth time?  This was truly the best show this season!  Ive gotta rant before I get to the show though.

HOOPS

Boring week.  Either that, or I just was too busy with the snow and everything else this week to follow the NBA.  I guess besides Kobe dunking over Yao-Ming and the fact that the NBA is still on ABC, thats all I have to say about hoops this week.  I hope to have more in two weeks.  In fact, I will; it just might not be a lot, thats all.

COLLEGE HOOPS

Three weeks ago, PITT was an iota from reaching the #1 seed.  Now, as #9, theyre trying to get back up there by beating the hell out of RU.  Unfortunately, RU isnt ranked, by it still made the Panthers look good.

WRESTLING

HHH/Steiner II and Bischoff/Austin (II).  I think HHH could pull it out, but if Steiner is on his way to returning back to a heel, hell win, so that Brock/Steiner is not a baby face/baby face gig.

BOXING

HEEEEEEEEES BAAACCCCKKKK!!!!  Tinas joke came a tad too late, IMO.  You know Mikes back when, despite the flu, he takes out Clifford Etienne in less than a minute.  When someone adds insult to injury and carries their opponent out on his shoulders, its great to know that boxing can be considered something to talk about again on a regular basic.

POLITICS

Nothing that big for me to talk about here, but Ill use this to bring up other pretty big news for the week.  Dont go to clubs, and trust no one.

MY GAME

Last week, I said, Well, Im sure that the scores will go up next week, unless they decide not to do The Continental.  That would be no good.  I already have to apologize for the people who selected Wake Up Wakefield to surface next week.  It would have helped some people had we known about some spoilers from the show, guarantee or no guarantee.  While on a regular basis, it was difficult, fortunately on a bonus standpoint: VERY WELL DONE PEOPLE!  Last week, the winner walked out with 54 points, and this week, the lowest score was 56 points.  The total amount of points was up to 2445, and the average was 188.08.  Wow.  The unfortunate thing for this in the future is that it might not be so simple, which is why I held the sketch thing for this week.  Anyway, the results will surface within a week.  If you have not yet won the game at least once since the Drew Barrymore show, then youre not the winner this week.  Sorry.

THE SHOW

This show was the best show this season without a shadow of a doubt.  Also, Im not saying it was just because Will Ferrell was on, and at least half the people will probably think otherwise but not say so upfront.  I think Eddie Murphy was the other person who came back too soon after a decent send-off, meaning the following season.  While I think WillIll rant on this later.  Ive gotta rant on Queen Latifah hosting in two weeks.  I dont care what other people say, but its about time.  The way things looked as of late, we were in the current run where we would be stuck with no black host in addition to no former castmember hosting all the way until 2005, with the exception of October or November of 2004.  Someone finally came to their senses and realized that its time for a change, and the little plan was not working.  The cast thing is a pain, and its obvious.  1996-1997 was the best season, in which 7 former castmembers (including 5 consecutive) hosted the show.  We need to get some more former castmembers to host and to not just make cameos, ESPECIALLY when not one person has been announced in the opening credits.  I can see how one would keep it a surprise, but when someone is making several appearances on one show, and we know ahead of time, mention them in the opening montage, and edit out some of the people (HOS) that wont even be appearing on the show!

Well its great to see an African-American host again.  Ill be even happier when March 8 comes and goes, and I can say that Queen Latifahs show was great, and not Trista Rehns show was so and so.  The bottom line is that its not always the cast and the writing that can bring down the show; its who is on the show and how they perform on it.  Great acting and an excellent sense of humor is a must.  As for the show, I should not even review it, since Im probably going to end up giving 100/100 for all the sketches.  But, Ill explain why if I ever did that.  There isnt ever going to be a show were the average is 100 or just plain 0.  No ones perfect, and SNL has been on the air for almost 28 years.

And now, the review

HARDBALL

DARRELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Im sorry, but I had to give a shoutout, since we all expected this to be his only appearance for tonight.  Hammond was happy, the Cold Opening was great, especially with Walken, and its great that a recurring sketch such as this one can work well without Tracy and/or Chris.  Despite DAHS mood, I must comment on why Lorne refused to let Darrell out of his contract, when he fell ill last week, and when he wanted out in the first place two years ago.  It would make sense to use DAH if youre going to keep him, and give Maya a rest.  Apparently, the lack of DAH for whatever reason is not working nor helping the show people!  I think DAHS done after this year, but for security reasons, he should return one more year, for a better ending, and in the event that Jeff Richards might not be that good of an impressionist.

100/100 = original score plus 7 for Walken finally opening the show

MONOLOGUE

Well, we all knew that he was going to go this.  However, Ive never really seen the girls on this show before, but thats not what made this monologue, nor would a promo for Poolhouse Junkies even though its with Chazz.  Hopefully in a month, Ill see Walken walk out with another Oscar, since Gangs and Chicago bested Catch Me.

99/100

PRANKSTERS

If Walken had not been in this, the skit would have just all right as the Chris and Maya on her prom fiasco was completely so original and silly.

98/100

THE CONTINENTAL

I knew it wasnt going to be as good as the others, but they did this, which had they not, then Id have to say whomever is responsible for what shows up on the show needs to go.

99/100 ((original score 8 34) * 2 + 3

LOST AT SEA

This wasnt good.  Im sorry, but I didnt think it was the best thing on the show today.

90/100 (for trying)

BLACK HISTORY MINUTE (AKA AFRO-AMERICAN ARCHIVES)

Dean was great in this.  No matter how many times he plays Don Cheadle, itll never get old (especially in Deans) case.  I have no comment on Tracy, since he was only in stills.  I think hes gone, but for security reasons, he should return one more year.  There is no guarantee that hell get as lucky as some people thought Tim Meadows would get.

95/100

COLONEL ANGUS

This was too funny for me to even comment.  The sketch or play speaks for itself.

96/100

SATURDAY NIGHT NEWS

From now on, unless I forget, thats what this will be called.  Tina and Jim took Weekend Update, and turned it into crap, and crap into the Super Bowl.

I cant call this WU because its been a lot better than this for twenty years.  Tina basically didnt give a damn about this, nor did Jimmy.  And then Steve Martin shows up.  I must say that Steves appearance was not pointless in this SNL NEWSBREAK.  In fact, his appearance was more to the point than his appearance on the Eddie Murphy hosted show.  It was great seeing Steve on the show for the first time since 1998, and wouldnt you know?  I believe around this time 10 years ago, he showed up pretty much unexpected on Weekend Update, to David Spades misfortune.

Will had a big send off last year, and it would have made sense if he didnt show up for a whole season, so that his return next season would get an even bigger ovation than tonight.  Nevertheless, it was more than great seeing Will on the show.  Its not like he popped up before Christmas, which would have been no good, and Britney Spears could not bring Will Ferrell down.  I had a feeling with the Colin Farrell thing that this would have been done a lot sooner had Will still been on the show.

100/100 (Original Score plus 12 for Will and Steve appearing together, and 3 for Maya bringing us a better version of Christina than the crap SMG had to offer)

MUSIC

Foo Fighters are back, but that doesnt mean that Im going to give the music a perfect score.

90/100

LOVAHS

It may be nice to see Will again, which is why this score is up 20 points from the original score, but I believe that they could have had Will do a lot of other things besides this.

90/100

MUSIC

Nice!

100/100 (original score plus 15 for Jim Carrey being in this)

THE RIALTO GRANDE CASINO

This is basically the best thing to end the show with.  Fred Armisens role is really what makes these things work.  Add that to Walken being in this, and you get

100/100

AVERAGE 96.42

The best. Show. Ever.  Well, at least for this season it was.  It was nice to see all the people who showed up today.  With Steves appearance, it finally gives Rachel Dratch and Maya Ruldolph the honor to say that they finally did a show with included Steve, and it also give Will Forte and Fred Armisen the honor to say that they finally did a show with included Will Ferrell.  Now, all we need is Tim Meadows to show up randomly (which could make some sense in two weeks, and Ill explain later, maybe), and then Dean, Seth, Amy, and Jeff can say that they finally did a show with included Tim Meadows.

Thats it for two weeks.  See you in two weeks!
