| How To Play the Game | ||||||||||||
| The rules are simple. Just guess how many clips each SNL player will be in, and put it here between now and Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET. As far as scoring goes, this is how it used to be. Each correct response gets one point. Hosts get 2 points, Musical guests get 3, and special guests get 5. This year, its completely different. Im not sure how many people are going to be in the cast this year, but lets assume that its 15. The reason why I wish I knew right now is because the value of points will depend on the how many people are in the cast. For this first game, and possibly for the entire season, as far as SNL players go, each correct response gets two points. Hosts get 3 points, musical guests get 7, and special guests get 10. In doing special guests, if Ben Affleck or the Land Shark shows up in one clip each, that would count as two. For musical guests, if he/she/they played two songs and appeared in one sketch, then that would count as three. BONUS This is what it used to be. Now, if you correctly guess who opens the show, then whatever score you make gets doubled. If you guess how many SNL players/musical guests/hosts combined appear in the cold opening, then whatever score you make gets tripled. Finally, if you guess how many SNL players/musical guests/hosts combined appear in on WU, then whatever score you make gets multiplied by FIVE. Not anymore (with the exception of Live From New York)! Again, the value of multiplier points depends on how many people are in the cast. Assuming that there are 15 people in the cast, if you correctly guess who opens the show, then whatever score you make gets DOUBLED. If you guess how many SNL players/musical guests/hosts combined appear in the cold opening, then whatever score you make gets multiplied by TEN. Finally, if you guess how many SNL players/musical guests/hosts combined appear in on WU, then whatever score you make gets multiplied by FIFTY. Here is a sample Seann William Scott: 8 RACHEL DRATCH: 4 DEAN EDWARDS: 4 JIMMY FALLON: 6 WILL FERRELL: 6 TINA FEY: 1 ANA GASTEYER: 3 DARRELL HAMMOND: 5 CHRIS KATTAN: 5 SETH MEYERS: 2 TRACY MORGAN: 2 AMY POEHLER: 2 JEFF RICHARDS: 3 MAYA RUDOLPH: 5 HORATIO SANZ: 4 Sum41: 2 Special Guests: 1 Weekend Update Capacity: 3 Cold Opening Capacity: 1 Live From New York: WILL FERRELL Results: Seann William Scott: 8 RACHEL DRATCH: 4 DEAN EDWARDS: 0 JIMMY FALLON: 4 WILL FERRELL: 6 TINA FEY: 1 ANA GASTEYER: 3 DARRELL HAMMOND: 3 CHRIS KATTAN: 5 SETH MEYERS: 4 TRACY MORGAN: 5 AMY POEHLER: 5 JEFF RICHARDS: 2 MAYA RUDOLPH: 3 HORATIO SANZ: 7 Sum41: 2 Special Guests: 1 Weekend Update Capacity: 4 Cold Opening Capacity: 1 Live From New York: WILL FERRELL Correctly guesses 6 SNL Players, plus the host, MG, and the SG. So that's 6(2) + 1(3) + 1(7) + 1(10) = 16 points. Since I correctly guessed WIF as opening the show, and I guessed how many people would be in the opening, then you multiply 2 to 32 for a total of 64, and THEN you multiply 10 to 64 for a total of 640. By the way, if there's a whole group of MG, and one or two of the 5 appear in a sketch, then it only counts as one, no matter how many people. I should mention that I dont count still photos and voice-overs. Also, Im fair and I wont take sides. While tough calls are to my discretion, it usually wont get to that. I strongly recommend that you write out the codes for the SNL players as seen on Franks Saturday Net. For the sake of people who dont know, and as advised by someone else, I wrote out the names myself. NEW THIS YEAR (IMPORTANT AND STRONGLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU WANT A BETTER SCORE EACH TIME)!!! Last year, we had a couple games where there would be a so-called wild-card SNL player. This year, this will be apart of every game for every show. In other words, everyone will get a chance to add bonus points to his or her score for each of the games this season. After you place your picks here, pick one castmember, and right under all of your choices, put the same result as you had earlier. It should look something like this: Eric McCormack: 10 FRA: 0 RAD: 5 DEE: 0 JIF: 2 TIF: 2 WLF: 3 DAH: 2 CHK: 3 SEM: 4 TRM: 1 CHP: 3 AMP: 4 JER: 2 MAR: 3 HOS: 2 Jay-Z: 2 Special Guests: 3 WU Capacity: 4 Cold Opening: 4 Live from New York: DAH SPECIAL CM is RAD: 5 Whomever is right will win a lot of points. To be clearer, the points will be equivalent to: Every Ones Points + Yours However, there's a little stipulation. For this to count, you have to get 3 special things right. Out of the host, MG, SP, Cold Opening Capacity, LFNY, and WU, if you get three out of six correct at least once during the season, then this will count toward your score for the week. If not, then youll get the points added to your score, but itll be exclusive of who wins or who loses. However, as soon as you reach the stipulation, it will be added to your TOTAL Prediction Points score, but wont change the fact that someone else might have won the game earlier. |
