My Destiny Profile
Kano Reversed: My Nature
- Opposite Of: Fire, Torch, Opening
- "...a darkening of the light..."
- Opposite Of: Rune of Artists, Sexual Love and Passion, Fire Under Control, and Mastery of our Passions.
- I hope that this doesn't mean that my nature isn't one of an artist since I've always thought of myself as being at least somewhat artistic (I've always gotten compliments in my art classes over the years).  Personally, I've always thought that this part of the reading meant that I would always stay a virgin, but perhaps it means that I can't control my passions instead (the 'fire under control' bit) and I'm more like a roaring forest fire or something when I do light up.

Eihwaz: Why I Was Born
- Defense, Avertive powers, yew tree
- "The ability to foresee consequences before you act is a mark of the profound person."
- "...and wait on the Will of Heaven."
- Rune of Communication, Altered States of Consciousness
- "...Eihwaz calls upon us to acknowledge the messenger who travels between the worlds."
- When I first tried to interpret this rune reading, I was delighted with geting this rune in particular since I was sure that it must mean that I'd be just like Joan of Arc (my childhood hero), a messenger of some kind.  Now if I wasn't meant for something more mundane... like maybe a fiction writer? If I had my dream job, that's what I would do. I'm currently working on a novel, but I've had alot of trouble staying focused on it.  Maybe I really was born to write - to communicate something back from the other side.

Ansuz: My Vocation
- Signals, Messenger Rune, The God Loki
- "The keynote here is receiving: messages, signals, gifts."
- Rune of Inspiration, Ecstacy
- "She is the fiery creative life force, the source, the muse of Song and poetry, the urge to communicate, the ability to solve problems, to be inspired."
- So if I take my nature to be an uncontrollable fire of artistic passion rather than an empty torch, this rune makes more sense (and makes me alot happier) and ties in with my wish to be a writer.

Jera:
My Destiny
- Harvest, Fertile Season, One Year
- "A rune of beneficial outcomes, Jera applies to any activity or endeavor to which you are commited."
- What I wrote when I first interperted this reading: "If I try hard enough and I am patient, I can do anything."
- Rune of the Harvest
- "As you sow, so shall you reap."
- Looking at this rune now, I find myself focusing the fertility aspect of this rune and hope it means that though I die, perhaps I'll leave behind children to carry on for me; continuing the cycle so to speak.

Algiz:
My Cross To Bear
- Protection, Sedge or Rushes, The Elk
- "Control of emotions is at issue here."
- "Do not try to pull down the viel and escape from life by denying what is happening.
You will progress; knowing that is your protection."
- Rune of Intuition: Inner Knowing
- "...remind of us the dangers of the emotional swampland, of how we can allow our emotions to trap us and render us incapable of utilising our intuitive abilities to our best advantage."
- So maybe it isn't me over using self protection that's my nature, but not having complete control over my emotions.  Maybe I can connect with people... I do, quite often, have very strong emotions that I let influence my actions.  Perhaps that's why I have a watery nature; suposedly the undines (the water elemental, also called a mermaid) can not be reasoned with on an intelectual level as everything they do is based on emotional responses and nothing else.

Fehu Reve
rsed: My Unified Self
- Opposite of: Money, Possessions, Nourishment, Cattle
- "Here you are being put in touch with the shadow side of possessions.  Yet all this is part of coming to be  and passing away, and not that which abides.  In dealing with the Shadow Side of Fehu, you have an opportunity to recognize where your true nourishment lies."
- When I first drew this rune and realized it was yet another reversed rune in my destiny profile, I couldn't help thinking:
What's wrong with me? Why do I keep geting reversed runes? Aren't they bad? But then when I looked up the meaning of this rune when it isn't reversed, I was glad that it had come out the way it did.  Right side up it stands for material, corpreal matters; money and possesions basically.  The opposite of that must mean spiritual things, so I don't mind having this rune reversed for my unified self: I think it means I have no need for the material part of life if I'm at my optimum potential.
There are so many interpertations of the runes on the web, I'm not going to bother putting up my own interpretations of them right now.  Maybe I'll do it at some later date, I'm not sure.

I got the format for this destiny reading from:
The Book of Runes, by Ralph Blum.  It's part of that standard kit for the runes that you can get at almost any book store.  You get the book, plus your own set of ceramic runes.  I've since made my own set with painted stones, but for some reason, my readings always seem more accurate when I use that original ceramic set.  Go figure, right?

Anyways, if you decide to do this reading, you're only supposed to do it once in your lifetime.  The rest I think is pretty self explanatory from what I have up above.
