"Iron" Mike Wise-move? by Se7en

As the title suggests this column will focus around the Australian native. Jokes aside, I am going to offer my opinions about what went down last Friday (30/05/03).

I thought that the decision to 'sack' Michael Williams from St. LCW was a mistake.. There may be a question mark in the title, but there is only one side to my argument, and there is no question in my mind that the decision was wrong.

I am one of "Iron" Mike's biggest fan, and in my opinion he improves every time he gets in the ring. He put on a good performance at Lost Souls and really does try to impress people. He is oozing with potential and rwa strength.

Let's get the story straight. He was sacked for poor attendance. He did not turn up for five shows, of which one was a training week. Let's take a look:

Week 1: Mike was on a pre-organised trip from school for a weekend.
Week 2: Mike went to a concert which he had purchased a ticket for weeks in advance.
Week 3: Training week: Mike went to Generation rock club.
Week 4: Mike was on holiday.
Week 5: Mike was on holiday.

Mike told people in advance about these five occasions, and he hadn't previously missed many weeks at all. Just when he was starting to improve, he is 'sacked' and for no good reason.

This decision has upset many people, myself included. I hope that he is given another chance as I am positive that he will now have the right attitude to progress and should treat this as a warning.

Michael Williams is one of the nicest people that you will ever meet. He did not lie to anyone - he told people in advance that unfortunately he would not be able to attend. He simply had things which he wanted to do. It's not as if he even had a warning, or the proverbial yellow card. Well I'm sorry, but it really was not an automatic sending off offence.

Please e-mail me your opinions - but I will not change mine. I want to see "Iron" Mike back in a St. LCW ring.

Thanx for reading,

Se7en
