| Centre of A-tension I have asked a few people what they think I should add to this site, and the answer which they gave me is "Columns." "Why don't you do a column and say what you think is good and bad about St. LCW." So I thought it over and decided to discuss one of the big issues at St. Lukes. I am not sure whether it is good or bad. Many of the active wrestlers here often complain they they do not have a storyline or gimmick. They want a proper feud, which will result in a match at the PPV. Many of these wrestlers have often been handed the task of wrestling in four corners matches, triple threat matches and number 1 contenders matches at such PPVs, for no apparent reason. There has not been a plot surrounding the matches, they are merely thrown together so that everybody is booked. I can see why such wrestlers find this unfair and complain, but in my opinion that is not the way to solve the problem. Why don't these guys think of their OWN gimmick or storyline? Plan out there volume, and present these ideas to the booker. The booker has enough work to do, and has to come up with new and fresh ideas for the main storylines, so why don't the mid-carders think of something new and original to do? What is the harm in that? Surely it is better than just whining and complaining. The booker could think that the ideas do not have any potential, but if the wrestlers want a storyline or gimmick so bad they would keep trying, until they are successful. These are just my ideas, but I know for a fact that the character that I portray in the ring is all down to me. The booker doesn't tell me how to convey myself, they are mostly all my ideas. I said at the beginning that I didn't know whether this matter was good or bad. I say this as it is good that the new generation of St. LCW talent want to be involved with good storylines, and want to prove themselves to all their critics. On the other hand the situation is causing, wait for it... tension. Jealousy is the bad boy in this situation. Wrestlers such as Randy Richter and Jason Sensation who have been with the company before such wrestlers like myself and Father Johnson, who is a member of C.R.A.P. and number one contender to the Intercontinental Title, are perhaps jealous, and rightfully so. I feel that it is time for these dudes to shine and be given the chances which I was, but it won't hurt if they help themselves along the way, by thinking of storylines and gimmicks. What harm can it do? These are just my opinions, and I hope that nobody has been offended by my comments. The bottom line is we need to give these wrestlers a chance, and stop depending on the veterans to provide good matches and entertainment, when I know full well that people like "New Breed" Hayden Williams can do just as good a job. I know that people will think that I'm buyest towards a certain Randy Richter, but what can he do to be given a chance? He is one of the most entertaining wrestlers in our company, even though not one of the best wrestlers, and he would admit that. He has gone through gimmick after gimmick trying to impress, and all he gets is insulted. No wonder he gets pi$$Ed off and occasionally doesn't feel like coming. All I ask is for guys like him to be given an opportunity. Please give me any feedback or ideas for columns via e-mail or the guestbook. Thanks for reading, Dave Robinson (Se7en) |
