| The Boz Report The Iron Man Review by Jim Boz During Volumes One to Five there was a competitor in St.LCW who caught the eye of many onlookers because of his size and power. A man who, because of these attributes, could have been touted as the next big superstar of our business, this wrestler was none other than the Iron man. Upon his initial arrival in St.LCW, Iron man was a young, up and coming star who had the world at his feet. We all knew that if Iron man could master some of the finer aspects of his art then the rookie would quickly become a major force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, Iron mans attributes were not, I believe, matched by a much-needed hunger for success during Volume One and the early part of Volume Two. Iron man was a happy-go-lucky, jovial character who aimed to please the fans first and concentrated on victory second. Thus, the success that Iron man experienced during the early part of his career as a babyface was limited. Nevertheless, a shrewd bystander by the name of Mr. Ass was apparently watching Iron man from afar and knew that if he could turn the jolly giant into a nasty monster then he might have something special on his hands. Hence, Mr. Ass snapped up the Iron man and made him not only a member of Team Ass but also his personal bodyguard. With Iron mans new role came not only a change of image as he smartened himself up with a shirt and trousers, but also a new attitude. Mr. Ass and his team had installed a more vicious streak in the Iron man, but disaster was right around the corner for the big guy. Just when his career was beginning to take off, Iron man received a serious knee injury that kept him out of action for the entirety of Volume Three. Then, at the Revolution pay-per-view, Iron man made a comeback by breaking a crutch over Star mans back. But, by this point in time, Team Ass were well and truly disbanded as Mr. Ass had left the company and Mimmickmaster and Moriarty were feuding against each other. Thus, Iron man was left as something of a spare part and the fans accordingly didnt know how to react to the returning big guy. Iron man was thus left as something of a tweener during Volume Four as some fans cheered him for his destruction of Star man, while others (with longer memorys) booed him for his past affiliation with the dastardly Team Ass. Iron mans tweener status would change however at the Double Jeopardy pay-per-view after he defeated the fan favourite Bubba in the penultimate match of the show. After losing the match Bubba, in one of his only classy acts, shook Iron mans hand and proclaimed that the big guy deserved respect, the fans duly obliged and from that day forth the love affair between Iron man and the fans has been burning bright. However, Iron mans new found support failed to catapult him to success, as his feud with Dave Daniels and Se7en over the Intercontinental title failed to deliver gold at the Hell Freezes Over 2001 pay-per-view. Iron man then completely disappeared off the scene for two years, but much to everyones delight, Iron man returned to St.LCW on the first taping of Volume Twelve. Iron man wasted no time in setting his sights on the European champ Dave Daniels and by only his second on-camera appearance, Iron man had defeated his old adversary and won his first singles title. After only ever previously holding the now debunked tag team titles with Sid Justice and then Team Ass during Volume One, Iron mans Euro title reign will be that much sweeter to him, because it proves that the big guy is finally fulfilling his enormous potential. |
