| The Boz Report Hornblower - Main Eventer? by Jim Boz Not many people would dispute the fact that the likes of Boden, Moriarty and Thanatos have been the biggest draws over the four years of St. LCW, but there are a group of wrestlers, namely Hornblower, Grell and Se7en who are all well up to being top draws for our company but, for one reason or another, have never fully been given the chance to shine. All have starred in their own angles but sadly none of them have achieved the ultimate prize the World title. Hornblower is without a doubt at the forefront of these up and comers and his show stealing private investigator gimmick only serves to highlight his position as one of the future top draws in St. LCW, Hornblower is a massively over face, and with good reason lets check out his credentials: in the ring the fact that Hornblower is a former member of the elite group known as the original St. LCW New Breed (with Moriarty and Jack Manson) suggests that he has got tons of in-ring ability and that suggestion is correct. Hornblower has had several high-quality wrestling feuds during his tenure in St. LCW with a number of different opponents, he also has the ability to brawl with the best of them as his encounters with the likes of Grell, Sid Justice and Tr Mendous have shown. On the mic unlike many people in St. LCW, Hornblower tackled mic work with confidence right from his debut as a St. LCW superstar, additionally his mic work has gradually improved as his career has progressed. Hornblowers promos can be funny, wild, entertaining or all three at once, he knows exactly how to get a feud over with the fans and has no problem in getting himself over in the process. As a heel Hornblowers promos were good but as a face they have excelled, bettered only by a bare minimum of St. LCW performers, overall Hornblower is seen by many, myself included, as the future of St. LCW. He had arguably the best rookie year of any wrestler in St. LCW history, in that year he combined promising in-ring ability with a successful TWF stint and a reign as Tag Team champion with Moriarty in St. LCW. Now, there can be no doubt that if Hornblower is given a title reign as World champion, a reign he richly deserves, he will shine, if anyone should take the time to look at Hornblower in comparison to the rest of the big boys they will see that he can match up to them in every way and thus deserves to be pushed to the hills. However, we cannot discount the fact that Hornblower faces stiff competition for the top spot, such is the depth of the St. LCW talent roster (I havent even mentioned the likes of Apocalypse Al Smith, Mimmickmaster and Dave Daniels) it may be some time before Hornblower reaches the proverbial mountain-top. So for now, our favourite private investigator may even be pushed back down the card, who knows! Only one thing is for sure: whether Hornblower is main eventing a pay-per-view or jerking the curtain with General Waste, he will display undoubted star quality. As for when that star quality comes to fruition is anyones guess, perhaps with Natasha Rider guiding his career, Hornblower will be able to stay more focused on achieving his goals. Lest we forget the words Natasha said to Hornblower on her first appearance in a St. LCW ring if you let me be your manager, people will no longer be calling you nearly man, they will be calling you champ., if this is indeed the case then Hornblowers future is that of a main eventer. |
