The Boz Report

Mimmick has arrived

Having watched the first taping of volume eleven, I'm sure that you will have realised that the title of this week's Boz Report is not a joke. When you think about it, Mimmick is one of only a few guys in St. LCW who hasn't held the World title but could do a great job as champ. Logically, Mimmick is one of the last opportunities for St. LCW to have a fresh/untried World Champion. Remember, we have all seen the likes of Boden, Moriarty and Thanatos with the World title around their waist before, seeing them with it again is nothing new (not to say it isn't somrthing good).

However, some people believe that the chances of seeing Mimmick win the World title are about as good as O.J.'s chances of finding the real killer. Nevertheless, funny how quickly things change in this business, isn't it? On the first taping of volume eleven, a priceless treasure was placed right into the collective lap of St. LCW. Watching the Mimmick Vs. Dave Daniels match was extremely surreal and extremely exciting. Exciting for obvious reasons, surreal because although Mimmick dropped the European title, he proved himself worthy (once again) of winning St. LCW's biggest prize - the World title.

Looking back, it's kind of unbelievable. A year ago, Mimmick was behind a lot of guys in the St. LCW pecking order, now Mimmick himself must look at the guys who have gne before him and learn from their mistakes and triumphs if he himself is to achieve the same rise to stardom. Additionally, there is still a ton of life left in the Mimmick (both as a character and worker) and if his feud with Jack Manson hadn't been, dare I say it, mishandled, perhaps Mimmick would have already been World Champion by now. That said, just because Mimmick is such a big deal at the moment, doesn't mean he can't fall victim to the old pitfalls.

I am, of course, referring to the politics/glass ceiling of St. LCW. Some people will attempt to hold Mimmick back behind the scenes in an attempt to keep their 'spot.' Others will attempt to hold him back in an attempt to take his 'potential spot.' But egos must be checked at the door, because Mimmick can never be taken seriously by 'the fans' unless he scores some big wins over top name stars in this company. Mimmick has 'paid his dues' and if handing the World title to the man on a silver platter is the right thing for business, then that's exactly what you do. Thus, Mimmick presents himself as a rare opportunity for St. LCW, a gold mine if you will.

Mimmick is fresh (rather than the 'select group' of former World champions) and 'the fans' absolutely love the guy. At the moment, he's got the 'it' factor and that's easy to feed off. But, beyond the immediate present, where Mimmick goes is largely up to the backstage hierarchy. Once the initial amazement of seeing Mimmick achieve the ultimate success has worn off, it will be up to himself and 'the booker' to make sure the aura lives on, so that he's not wrestling the Masked Avenger by Hell Freezes Over 2004. Because as unlikely as that seems this week, it can happen. Lest we forget, other St. LCW wrestlers have had momentum and apparently ARRIVED on other occasions, then politics has screwed things up. But surely, backstage politics won't affect the rise of the Mimmick Master, will it?
