Dear St. LCW Patrons,

My first column seems to have taken longer than I thought it would. I have two half completed columns in the pipeline that hopefully I'll be passing on to Se7en soon. They are on the subject of 'training days' and 'booking,' so if anyone has any opinions, good or bad, please e-mail me or let me know in person.

This week though, I thought I'd give my personal opinion on the awards, I know it's a bit behind the times as they were ages ago but I hope what I say will still be relevant. I think I'll cover what I feel are the bad points first so that I can end on a high note. Before I begin I hope I don't offend anyone, as these are not personal issues.

Although Mark Clarke does deserve the award, I think that it is about time that the "Most Helpful and Hard Working" award was renamed 'The Mark Clarke Award,' otherwise no one else has a chance of winning it. Although not many people spring to mind, as let's face it, most of us don't help with the mats, etc, myself included, those such as Stacey does a lot of things, e.g. collect the money and there for the full two hours.

There are also two awards which I feel are irrelevant, "Best Fan" and "Best Commentator." I'm not saying anything against those who won, I just think that for the most of us they cannot be fairly judged. I personally abstained from voting for either award. "Best Commentator" is easy enough to vote for if you get to watch the tapes, but nobody in the crowd can hear what they say. As I believe less than half of us get to see the video on a regular basis - it is not worthwhile. The award for "Best Fan" is also lost on me as it depends on what you think is a good fan. I personally don't think noise is the most important thing to the crowd, but clapping when people do well or try their best, and not forgetting to boo when a heel does something despicable. That's only my opinion and as with all things democratic you all have the right to choose but as the award has no meaning to me, I'll continue to abstain.

The negative point I'm going to cover is just me disagreeing with the majority of the results of two awards, "Best Storyline" and "Worst Storyline." It's nothing personal, I'd just like to say why I think the winners would not be my choice. "Best Storyline (Grell Vs. Sid) was for me not the best storyline as it made little sense. I have heard that it was not the original concept and that it was dragged out instead of giving them a real reason to feud. Although it lead to Grell's face turn it did not work. For someone who has been a heel for so long, Grell could have done with a more convincing turn. Although 'the voice' did not work as well as expected, with technical problems (could not hear a word of last message) it was the most talked about angle and kept St. Luke's alive between Fridays. The revelation was done after the voting and there is still more to come so it was not given a fair chance to prove itself.

On a lighter note, it was good to see Mark, the Mimmick Master, Clarke finally appreciated for his wrestling and recent effort. Plus in a time when there is a distinct lacl of heels, it was good to see someone win an award for their continued effort to be the bad guy (Se7en). Also I think that the award for "Most Improved" went to a good home as Jason has done well recently. I hope he can develop his character furthur and also his new referee character to take him further.

Yours,
Miss Rebecca

Other opinions:

Se7en: "
I agree with pretty much everything that the first lady of St. Lukes has stated, particularly concerening the best/worst storylines. Also, I firmly agree with Jason Sensation picking up 'Most Improved Wrestler.' That was the first award that I won a few volumes back, which led to an Intercontinental title upset, and I hope that the 'vertically challenged Spandau Ballet follower' can follow in mine, Dave Daniels and Grell's footsteps."
