Hi, I'm Sheila D(ee), and this is...

My Mom, Katie

A Quilting Tribute To My Mom
Her name is Katie, she has 4 grown children,( 2 girls & 2 boys)
8 grandchildren (4 girls & 4 boys)
and 4 great-grandchildren (a girl & 3 boys)
She owns a home in Alabama, has a river lot there too...
She is a member of East Gadsden Church of Christ...
She works sitting with an elderly man...
She isnt afraid of hard work and enjoys being outdoors...
She is very outgoing and active... (I think that helps keep her young)
Oh, yeah, she is one great cook too!!!
All in all I think my Mom is the GREATEST
but I am being partial, Im her daughter... : )

My Mom has survived raising four children, losing her husband in 1997 and Breast Cancer in 1999. She has more courage then any person I know and she has a heart of gold. As years have past she is even more of a HERO to me. Being a military wife wasnt easy and yet she did it with flying colors, never knowing when our Dad went to war (3 times, WWII, Korea & Viet-Nam) if he was coming home. She never wavered in her faith or love for him. My parents taught us to be faithful and truthful, two things I so strongly believe in. I am proud of my raising and I am so thankful for what I had growing up.
Thank You Mom and Dad.

I started quilting in January 2001, though my Mom tried to teach me when I was younger, I never got the hang of it. I am working on a Christmas project, quilts for all my family. : ) Upon telling my Mom this, she asked if she could help me by quilting some of the quilts. I was ecstatic about her helping me. I prepared the first quilt for her to do, my daughters, 100 x 100 and delivered it to her. Within less than 3 weeks she had it finished (hand quilted). She is now working on my nephews. She called right after she started working on my daughters quilt, crying slightly, she said she wasnt lonely anymore, the quilting was keeping her company, she even takes it to work with her. When she isnt tending to George, the elderly man she sits with, she quilts. She went to FL with my oldest sister and her family for a week in June. She called me upon returning telling me about the beach and all but the best part was, she wish she had taken my nephews quilt with her to work on LOL : ) Thats my Mom. : )

If any of the Ladies in "Mom's 30's Repro Sampler Swap" visit this web site, thank you. This is who my special quilt is for, just wanted you to know : )

I've tried to do all my own design work, for I wanted my web pages to be an extension of myself... What I've done on these pages has come from my heart... So, please be kind and ask first... Thanks Sheila D(ee)
