Logos + Imprints = Branding

Most of the logos below, with the exception of the first two, were developed for Gallopade. Most of those didn't require much thought. Actually, I didn't have the time to put much thought into them. But after living and breathing Gallopade for so long, the logos just came naturally.

L.E.A.D. Logo
Back in the fall of 2004, Gallopade's Art Department received a invitation to participate in the redevelopment of one of the NSSEA's (National School Supply and Equipment Association) committees. The requested method of participation: enter a contest to create the logo for the Leadership, Education And Development committee. You're looking at the winning entry!

Keep Newnan Beautiful
My wife's aunt is involved in a hodgepodge of community organizations; as a representative of this loose-knit group, she asked me to come up with a logo. She had an idea featuring the lampposts, but she admitted that she was hacking it up in Photoshop.

So what we've got here is a illustration of the replica lampposts that were built by Newnan's R.D. Cole at the turn of the century. These line the court square and most of the surrounding 15 blocks. Also featured in the logo: bricks and trees, predominant features of the architecture and landscaping on the court square. The arch containing "Keep Newnan" is reminiscent of the elegant homes for which Newnan is famous.

American Milestones
If you travel the back roads (and I mean the real back roads... the one-laners that are so overgrown you get plant matter stuck to your mirrors) through New England and the MidAtlantic states, you might see some of these little obelisks on the roadsides.

Milestones, as they're called, were used to tell travelers the distance to the next town. They didn't have to tell you which town, because there weren't that many, and if you were going somewhere, you knew where you were going. So these little obelisks were the inspiration for this logo, the official brand of the American Milestones series of history books.
See American Milestones in Gallery 3 of Educational Publishing.

Series Logo
By far the most instantly-recognizable logo in Gallopade's image bank. And it should be, since it's one of the cornerstone products Gallopade offers.
Imprint
Back when bioterrorism was in the news every day, Gallopade produced two books that were designed to help alleviate the public's ignorance of most microscopic biological entities. I think this logo works pretty good...
Pretty Little Light-up Logo
Developed for a product line that was designed to make old stuff new again, namely by taking antique holiday activities that have been nearly forgotten and making them seem new. Hence the ridiculously-large "NEW" in this logo, which is resting above a very traditional banner and hovering atop a very antique Tiffany-style lampshade. At one point, when presented online, the background of the logo was dark; a rollover flipped the proverbial light switch and illuminated the stained glass.
Hip! Hip! Hooray!
This logo has many variations before we threw up our hands and said, "This is it! No more!" I guess it was just one of those days...
