"You shouldntve done that," whispered Sam.
Bit looked up at him with wide eyes. What did I do?" The expresson on Sams face gave him a little poke in the stomach, telling him that whatever he did, it was gonna cost him more than desert that night.
Suddenly he heard the wooden doors of the dormitories swing open, and a barage of footsteps heading his way. He sat on his bed nervously, feeling the poke in his stomach ache more as the Headmistress took a step closer towards him.
"H-How are you, Lady Hilmer?" he gulped, eyeing his so called friends standing cowardly behind her.
Hilmer merely narrowed her eyes. Bit felt the little beads of sweat on his head pouring down. He was in it deep this time. She only narrowed her eyes when you were in real trouble.
Hilmer placed her hands on her hip, and tapped her finger annoyedly. Only then did Bit realize the large brown stain on her new dress. His eyes widened in horror. "Sparky!" he yelled suddenly.
Oh is that the devils name? Hilmer spat out as she held up a mud-covered puppy in front of Bits face. "I believe hes yours?"
Bit felt a shiver go down his spine as she said that. He nodded slowly, half expecting her to growl. "I-Im so sor-"
"Save it!" she yelled, throwing the puppy down at his lap, which landed with a little yelp. "Hear this, boy," - theres that shiver again - "pull another one of your childish pranks and Ill personally throw you out on the streets!" She wagged her finger inches from his
face before turning around to leave.
"But it wasnt a prank!" Bit said, regretting it as soon as it came out. He quickly placed his hand over his mouth, wishing so hard that hed leave his big mouth closed for once.
Hilmer turned around slowly, eyeing Bit. She approached him slowly, her eyes narrowing more with every step. Bit swear he could see steam coming out of her ears. She grabbed him by his collar, his nose inches from hers. "Thats it, boy. Strike 3. OUT."
"I said Im sorry!" Bit yelled out as Hilmer slammed the door in his face. He let out a sigh, and turned around. "Never thought shed actually do it," he said coldly. "That old bat." Sparky tuggled him a little by his pant leg. "What?" he asked sharply, causing Sparky to let out a whimper. He sighed again, looking around a bit. The street lights had
just lit up. Bit felt a sudden breeze blow past him, and he shivered slightly. Sparky comfortingly nudged him on his leg. He leaned against the door, and slid down. "Dont cry," he told himself. "Youre only letting her win by crying." He sniffed. It was one of those moments he really wished he hadnt been so stupid as to let a muddy dog in.
"Stupid." he scolded himself.
Suddenly Sparky let out a loud bark, and rushed down the street. "Sparky?" Bit asked, standing up. He hesitated, thinking he should just wait there. Hilmerd let him in sooner or later. But something told him to follow Sparky. Grabbing his bag of the little clothing he had, he rushed after him. "Sparky!" he called, listening intently for his barks.
He saw Sparky move inside a dark alley, barking loudly.
"What is it, boy?" Bit asked, glancing in. Sparky growled deeply, the hair on his neck standing up. Bit took a step forward, feeling something inside pull him in. He felt the hair on his neck stand up, and he shivered again. He gulped, feeling a sudden chill down
his spine. "H-Hello?" he asked, trying to move back. But he couldnt. Something was pulling him towards the alley. He took another step closer. He could feel the goose bumps on his arms. Sparky growled deeper, flashing his sharp teeth.
Suddenly, Bit fell forward, as if someone had pushed him from behind. He had no time to panic, for the next thing he knew he was spinning round and round. The sharp, icy air penetrating throught his clothing. He couldnt see anything, let alone hear anything. He could only feel the coldness around him. His body trembled, and his teeth chattered.
But then suddenly he wasnt cold anymore. It was as if someone had let the sun in, and all he could feel now was the warm sunlight against his body. He felt two long ropes wrap around his arms, holding him tightly. He struggled to open his eyes. He saw two beautiful sapphires shining down on him. His vision sharpened, and he realized that they werent sapphires, but eyes. Two beautiful, blue eyes. And that the ropes around him
werent really ropes, but arms. Warm, gentle arms. He could see a smile coming from the face that looked down on him. He smiled back. He couldnt help but feel safe in those arms.
