The American Rabbit Breeders 2007 Show and Convention was held in Grand Rapids ,Michigan in October.

Below are a few of the SDRBA members stories and pictures.
The ARBA Convention was a good time. Seven of us went in Derecks' Surburban and pulled a trailer with 102 rabbits in it. We could not have gotten another rabbit in. The trip was uneventful as far as bad luck was concerned. Everything went well and there was never a dull moment. We seniors (Tom Norman and I) managed to keep up as long as we went to bed early each night.

I didn't win any classes but did have 10 place in the top 5 of their class. Even though I had 4 second place animals probably the most notable was a black silver marten jr buck that placed second to the BOB marten. I think it made Tex a little nervous.

The best part was I was able to sell 25 (and I only bought 4) so I now have some space for the babies that will come from the 6 does that already have them and the 18 - 20 that will have them in the next few days.

I'm looking forward to a couple of quiet months and will see everone in Sioux Falls in January and Watertown in February. The Heartland Rabbit Club will have their Spring show April 12, 2008 in Pierre. Everyone mark your calendars now for that. Here is hoping everyone has a great winter and a Happy Holiday Season.

If you missed the convention this year you missed a wonderful city and a wonderful drive with the fall colors changing in MI. They were at the height of their fall colors. We had some rain but the days and evenings were mild the facility was beautiful, open and youth were all in one area.

Our hotel was just a short walk from the convention center and every day we walked over this bridge and watched the fly fisherman casting for salmon. There were several nice tours to take if you were so inclined and across the park was the Gerald Ford Museum and also a museum of art. I did take in the Gerald Ford Museum and had the intent but not the time to go to the other museum.

As usual it is a great time catching up with all those folks you see only at conventions. I would have to say that this year SD members attending the convention was down from other years. Rita, Denise, Monique, Claudia nd Ruby did our best to represent SD.

The Netherland Dwarf team of Ruby and Rita had a great showing by capturing the BOSB with a jr Black Otter doe. This was trhe first time on the show table for her so it was great fun to watch her being judged and moving through the process to make it to the top of her class and then on to BOSB. This year the Dwarf club used the voting system similar to the Satin club, all the judges voted 3 pts for 1st and 1 point for 2nd pick. With 6 judges and a possible 18 points she got ALL 18 points.

Needless to say I had a really good time at the convention this year!!!!!

The BOSB ND doe gets quite a bit of attention from Japan ARBA members
This is the De Vos Arena, on the left and the river a lot of us walked over every day to get to the showroom. There were always men fishing in waders no matter the time of day - it isn't deep at all!
