 Theological Education

Goal: To develop an awareness of the historical experience of spirituality

      1. through experimentation of classical disciplines in retreat settings at least yearly.
      2. by exploring supplementary audio materials on the fundamentals philosophy, Church history, Catholicism, and Eastern Orthodoxy during my commute.

Spiritual Formation

Goal: To cultivate an attitude of listening over self-assertion

      1. by attending Morning & Midday Prayer at St. John’s twice a week.
      2. by practicing two 22-minute periods of centering prayer daily.

Personal Development

Goal: To solidify the discipline of wellness

      1. by exercising 60 minutes 3 times a week.
      2. by negotiating personal time with my wife on a weekly basis.

Ministerial Preparation

Goal: To clarify my particular calling as a Director of Christian Education

      1. through conversations with Monastics, Deacons, Liturgists, and other ministers of other faith traditions.
      2. through completion of SJU Ministerial Formation requirements.

Professional Skills Development

Goal: To articulate a theology and practice of discipleship for the 21st Century

      1. by journaling academic preparations employed in parish ministry at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church.
      2. by compiling a personal webpage of spiritual formation & discovery.
