SDP's vision of Kenya is one of a sovereign state composed of political free citizens, with inalienable rights to their lives, property and liberties, living under a just rule of law and governing themselves through representative institutions manned by freely elected Kenyans who can be recalled through free and fair elections;

SDP believes that the wellspring of human development, economic growth and national progress is human enterprise undertaken in a secure and free environment. Competitive private enterprise has, up to now, been shown the world over to offer the best scope for our stage of development;

The SDP is, nonetheless, conscious of the fact that political democracy in a capitalist economy and society carries intolerable levels of socio-economic inequalities, some of which, effectively negate the promise of legal political equality, and many of which hinder economic development and social progress. SDP is committed to addressing the issue of unacceptable inequalities in Kenya. Severe socio-economic inequalities could be greatly aided by major redistribution of national assets and incomes.
