The Witch City

Salem was first settled in 1626 and became incorperated as a City on March 23, 1836. Salem had their first Constable in 1630 and shortly after 1666 they received their first watch house. On May 12, 1836 the City of Salem appointed their first Marshals for the City, although the date of unofficially appointed Marshals can be traced much further back. Salem has a rich history and the Salem Police Department proudly serves to maintain that history, while providing a proactive Police Service to it's community.
