| Stop the selling of our relatives blood! | ||||||||||||||||
| Pipestone (catlinite) is found in a remote region of Minnesota which has now become a National Monument. Pipestone is very rare, and sacred to the Lakota, Dakota, Nakota, Assiniboine Sioux, and Annishanabe who once occupied this region. The sacred stone was brought to the Lakota by White Buffalo Calf Woman, and is limestone found in a clay deposit making it very easy to carve. Pipestone is used to carve the ceremonial pipes to carry our prayers through the smoke to Wakan Tanka. Due to it's scarcity, sacredness, and ceremonial use Pipestone should never be bought or sold. Pipestone is the blood of our ancestors, and selling it is akin to selling the ashes or headstone of one of your relatives. Once you place a value on something that is sacred, it loses it's value as a sacred object and any medicine associated with that object. Pipestone is a gift, and isn't for everyone. It's the medicine of the golden eagle (Wambli, Wambdi, Wabun). Those of us who have been blessed by Wakan Tanka to carry this gift have a responsibility to protect it's value as sacred. We are the Eagle Nation, Lakota Oyate. Please help preserving our culture, dignity, and future by speaking out against these retailers who violate the sacred law. |

| Please take some time out of your day to write these businesses and let them know how you feel about them violating the sacred law. Boycott these businesses until they change their ways which are contrary to our Native American beliefs. They have been "capitalized," their values are not consistent with those our ancestors, or of any Native American I ever met. Whether they were 1% or 100%. Selling pipestone is akin to selling eagle feathers, and should be against federal law. The sacred law however supercedes that of the physical laws of the universe. |
