Site still under construction...possibly the trip round Mexico was easier then writing about it and sirting through the thousands of photos...
The rough guide to Mexico describes it as being a 'place of extremes both barren and lush, rugged and pastoral - an untamed ecological paradise'. This is very true, but S-Division also found a land awash with 80's music, ... and more refried beans then you could possibly imagine.
Five members of S-Division went to Mexico
Dave was the only one who turned native
Dan was as always the adventurer
Simon tried out all the food and drinks going - sometimes to his cost (beer with ice, salt, chilli, mud and grit is never ever good).
James, the man with the plan

Bryony tried to act manly to fit in with the rest of us
1 - Getting Around
Mexican roads are for the most part...intersting. They vary widely from huge empty motorways (with the odd one legged pedestrian in the fast lane - we were forced to undertake this one), to the complex chaos of the cities (complete with speed traps). To deal with this we had a big American Tank, which was so full of luggage even the combined efforts of the Mexican Military could not get the cases out of the boot (foolishly we went through a military check point out of siesta time / breakfast time / lunch time / tea time and suffered the consequences).
We had two brave drivers who did a sterling job. James who drove us the wrong way up a motorway into oncoming traffic and Dave who almost killed us by almost driving the car over a cliff face whilst playing with his hair. The passengers coped with this in their own particular way, Bryony just closed her eyes, Simon stared into a books and Dan entered a daze like trance.
2- Cancun
We arrived at night in Cancun, we stayed for a few beers..
..and hit the open road first thing. Well, after a huge breakfast where we feasted on many unknown food stuffs and our first helping of refried beans.
It was by lunch time we realised the enormity of the dirve we were undertaking, suprisingly it didn't seem so far on the map on my coffee table at home.
3- Valladolid
A pleasent place to stop and explore and have a bit of lunch, lunch came with refreid beans, we were beginning to spot a trend here.
4 - Chichen Iza
Chichen Iza, one of the main capital cities of the Mayian Empire, and Dan broke it (below). To be fair though it almost broke Dan. Wandering down dark passageways Dan very nearly fell down an ancient Mayian Pit Trap - almost real life Dungeon Quest!
Pyramids are vey steep and it is best to fly up them, of course only if you know how!!
5 - Merida
6 - Uxmal
7 - Campeche
8 - Palenque
9 - Villahermosa
10 - Veracruz
11 - Cholula
12 - Teoltihuccan
We were getting to the end of the holiday, two weeks trapped into a car together. It was not supprising that tensions should be running high and that to resolve this in the Aztec city of Quetzalcoatl (where men become gods), Simon was offered up for human sacrifice outside the pyramid of the moon. Fortunately the gods didn't seem that interested and Simon was left to climb pyramids
