| Meeting was called to
order at 10:15 a.m. Introductions were made. |
| Program: Anna
Borges gave talk and short video of mirrors, 3 to 4 minute program -
discussion was about the video - blind spots in the new "preying mantis"
mirrors. Looking at putting out a new video concerning mirrors and looks at
the blind spots. This one is not available. Motion was made by Susie Reese and seconded by Karen Boyd for a letter to be drafted to John Green concerning the availability of this video for training. A committee was appointed to make a mirror video. Merit, Jeannette, Nancy Good, Sara, Chuck and Debbie are on that committee. They will be discussing making a video of mirrors and identify blind spots. |
| REPORTS: CDE: SB315 - 45 days for re-application. AB 235 - funding for re-imbursement program for transportation; AB1626 - 15 passenger van and how schools that own 15 passenger vans and needing a CDL for that van after 1-1-05. Car seat training - are we interested in this - needs to be small groups? July - week of second or third week - in the San Diego Area - for updates for in-service of instructors. Revised units 5,6,7,8, and 11 for classroom manual. Program for 11/2 to 2hr program for documentation updates and how to fill out these documents. Feb 11th. CHP: Robert Banks let us know that East County will not be testing on Feb 5th and 12th. MOTOR CARRIER: None CASTO: Conference April 2 thru 5th in Monterrey. Meeting on Tuesday, April 5th will be with the school bus advisory committee. Hope to see everyone there! Special Needs Road-eo Feb 7th. BUSINESS: Rick Lynch from Temecula asked about stopping at Inspection Scales and what everyone was doing in their district. He received a communication from CHP Mario Espre for a clarification. We need to stop if the signs say "Bus". |
| GOOD OF THE
ORDER: There was a nomination for a School Bus Driver of the Year. It was voted that we support that nomination as a school bus support group. Vote carried. Anna announced there is no new vehicle codebook for 2004. You will have to use the book for 2003 and make the upgrades. Karen did go to the meeting put on by AAA and the DMV. AAA has a short bookliet on the changes for 2004. Contact your local office to get the book. |
