Merit began with introductions. Last meeting minutes were approved. Minutes are posted on the website.

CDE: January 1, 2005, AB 2785 will make it an infraction to drive a school bus or transit vehicle while using a wireless phone.

CHP: San Diego Live Scan closed 12/20 to 12/31/04. El Cajon Live Scan is up and running. Closed Thanksgiving. Robert will be out this month for 2 weeks starting on the 18th.

MOTOR CARRIER: None

CASTO: Driver's workshop scheduled for March 5, 2005 at the San Diego County Office of Education Complex on Linda Vista Rd. If you have any questions or would like to teach a class, contact Debbie Shively at Cajon Valley School District. 619-588-3669.

Mechanic's Workshop scheduled for December 4, 2004.

CLASSES: Original School Bus Driver - Poway starts January 10, 2005  - 5pm to 8pm. Questions, call Cat at 858-748-0010 x2058

Chula Vista Adult School - Sandy Hull - January 31, 2006 - M/W 6pm to 9pm.

SECRETARY POSITION: Filled. Sharon Carl will be stepping in for Patti Bielma.

ATTENDANCE: Jeannette will Anna Borges to find out her time flexibility. Merit will develop a survey. Suggestion made to include CASTO every 3rd month for an evening meeting at a restaurant.

ACCOUNT MONEY: Balance on 5/12/04 is $42.85.

GOOD OF THE ORDER: Cat asked about new CHP test - CHP stated that more people are passing, about 95% (increase from 50%) - Susie stated that her students have expressed that the test is more to the point and not tricky.

Merit asked how other Carriers advertise for Drivers. Suggestions were: ROP booklets, Sunday Paper a sign in front of your bus yard, and lastly, parking a bus near an unemployment office, welfare office or shopping center with a sign.
